Both those were deals with people he knew socially as well as having worked with them. If you are grousing about the price or the return, that isn’t my point. That is a different thing. When I look at Dan I see a guy that is overworked to the point it shows. I see people say he is like a dumb jock basically. I don’t think he’s stupid. He is very transparent, kind of guileless. I think it buys credibility which is helpful when negotiating with other GMs. The thing he did with AT and Minnesota last year I believe probably won him some points with prospective FA vets. Which does not hurt a team people may have doubts about joining.

Cool. I am not wanting to debate or argue it. It is mostly my preferences. But a couple of things: I just don’t think he sees the middle of the field well. But besides that I would rather spend a 1st round pick at different offensive positions if we went offense, otherwise we have neglected defense something fierce the last few years. Last 1st rounder was Horn. That’s like 5 years ago now. Investments… gee the last 4 drafts we have used a 2, a 2, a low 1st and a top ten pick on WR. Bryce has been here three years, three of those picks were specifically for him. And assets, I don’t think you are counting the haul we gave for the QB position. That counts and it was huge. Add that up and add the Burns cap space we freed up when we traded him. We bought two guards and used the savings on them. Not on the defense. Well you are officially renting him in those circumstances. So I don’t care who he is, I wouldn’t want to give up a 3rd. I for sure was thinking much cheaper. Got to pay him 15 mil. And then he can be a FA. I guess you could tag him. That would be costly. The idea of a one year rental doesn’t bother me though, it could buy time and still allow us to draft an edge this year, then in ‘27 we’d have Scourton and Princely going into their third season and the newer draftee his second. They might be ready to step up. I just would want him cheap.

I am not endorsing or rejecting.. just commenting. NYG GM Schoen and Morgan are like, vacation buds. Did the Burns trade already. If we had interest it should be do-able. One year rental? Could be cheap. But it would need to be. Maybe a player could go back to them. More than that? Like trade for and extend him? I don’t know enough about him to really say about that. What LG just said sheds some light. In a general sense, we have done well with our late rounders but the reason for that may apply less going forward. Tillis referenced this as well in his combine interview the other day. When you have holes everywhere it is easy to fill them with a draft pick, but once you have gotten things to a certain level that changes. At that point maybe a late round pick doesn’t upgrade your team like it did n previous seasons. Hence the low picks become less impactful for us, there is less utility. Which could play into them being more willing to use them in a trade.

I don’t have those concerns here. But first, I never understood a lot about why the TO and the challenges were so hard. Wouldn’t you have a guy looking at the challenge option on a video, wired into the coach’s earpiece? All he has to do is say, hold up we can challenge that and win. Same for clock management. Have an assistent dedicated to to keeping the HC straight in that. But what do I know. In the real world it is happening this way. To your concerns, I would say I don’t feel too threatened that Idzik gets stolen for a head coach job any time soon. He would need to cook for two to three years straight before he would get that kind of credibility. If for some reason he did get hired away, Bevell is here and is probably better at it than Idzik. I favor defensive guys because they generally have tougher teams, less finesse more ass kicking mentality. In my perception anyway.
