  1. I doubt that. We wouldn't have been both trading for #3 and trading for Watson. That was definitely an either or scenario. I kinda get the feeling that once it became more clear that the Jets were zeroed in on Wilson that we weren't willing to pay that price for whoever our #3 was, be it Fields, Lance, or Jones and honestly I'm not upset by that. The Niners paid a fortune.
  2. I just want Darnold to boom or bust and he has a much better chance to do that than Teddy did. Be the answer or get us in position to land Sam Howell, no half stepping please. Honestly, that's the feel of this roster. We have a bust reclamation project at QB and a veritable MASH unit of free agent acquisitions. This is either gonna really work or really NOT work.
  3. I really think it was the Niners trade that made us go That's when we realized we needed to start looking at plans F, G, and H on the list.
  4. Honestly, I'm not 100% sold that Zaven Collins shouldn't be considered the best LB prospect in this class. Dude gives me Urlacher vibes.
  5. Pete Carroll thought that about Aaron Curry when he drafted him #4 overall too. I think the group think on Curry that year was "safest player on the draft".
  6. Agreed. I think Parsons is a great prospect but not generational.
  7. If the over/under is Luke, I'm all in on under. It's hilarious to try to enshrine kids in the HOF before they ever don an NFL jersey.
  8. Based on our free agent acquisitions I fear we may be shopping on the wrong side of this aisle.
  9. Probably positional value. Unless it's a generational talent in a weak draft, an off ball LB just doesn't warrant a top 10 pick in today's NFL.
  10. Agreed. If Fields is there, take him. If we aren't going QB and the phone is ringing, at least listen. I'm a huge UNC fan but Brown scares me. Dude's hands are VERY hit or miss and while he's fast he's not Ginn fast. The hands are comparable though. The more wide open he is the more likely the drop.
  11. The Reddick signing was great. The rest suspect at best
  12. The Bouye move is going to depend on contract. We're going into next season relying on a lot of players with significant injury histories. That usually ends up predictably. Bouye is coming off of both an injury and a down season while he was on the juice. That's a big red flag. I hope the deal is cheap. Worthwhile gamble if it is.
  13. Yeah, I'd be a lot nervous if I was renting right now. I have to imagine rent prices are also soaring with zero hope of any equity. Shitty spot to be in for sure. Investors and flippers are gobbling up anything that hits the market at a reasonable price right now too. I was a little nervous about what the foreclosure market would do to real estate prices once it opens back up but the more I think about it I think the impact is likely to be minimal. There's very real pent up demand right now from investment buyers. Likely more than enough to offset the foreclosure market opening back up. That will obviously vary somewhat by market, but buy and large I don't expect foreclosures coming back to trigger significant reset. I would've said the opposite six months ago.
  14. Fairly apathetic to be honest. I honestly don't think we're making smart moves right now but we still have the draft. It's just hard to be optimistic when the franchise history doesn't give much reason to support it and I've grown weary of being pessimistic after this latest trade so I'm kinda just laying back at this point hoping for the best while fully expecting the worst. So, we'll see...
  15. So are some NFL front offices. You don't end up with a losing record year after year by making smart decisions.
  16. He used to be good but he was atrocious last year. Hopefully that Broncos system just wasn't well suited for him.
  17. Everything is a wrap on our deal. Closing on Monday at 2pm.
  18. We're probably in this same spot next year if we don't, so if the draft board falls that there's a QB there we would've been interested in before trading for Darnold then we should still draft him. These reclamation projects rarely work out. If it does, then we can move the newly drafted QB.
  19. If we were trying to trade for him I have to think we'll be interested in him as a FA.
  20. That's what makes home a good backup. He's not going to go out there and lose the game. He can hold the fort down, but he's not going to lead the cavalry. He's a great backup for a team that has an entrenched starter.
  21. I was wrong about Herbert. CMC is the best slot WR in the NFL. That's the thing, when you're actually willing to voice an opinion sometimes you're going to be wrong. When you're a homer glasses wearing sheep you just have a better excuse for your even higher percentage of being wrong.
  22. I guess I could be delusional like a good chunk of our fanbase and act like this organization has historically made good decisions that worked out well. Meanwhile, we're probably lining up our fourth consecutive losing season.
  23. Evidently Burrow agrees with them. https://www.si.com/college/lsu/football/lsu-joe-burrow-pushing-draft-jamarr-chase
  24. He probably sees a chance to look like a hero if Darnold is even decent. There's no downside for him here. If Darnold sucks, he was already a bust. If he looks good, then Ryan fixed him. All reward no risk for Ryan here.
