Zach Wilson is boom or bust and should not be started year one
LinvilleGorge replied to Ja Rhule's topic in Carolina Panthers
Anytime a guy faced subpar competition in college there's always a question mark in terms of how he'll translate based on that alone. -
Sounds like Rhule has roster control per the contracts. “I think in terms of on the contract, a lot of those things probably rest with me,” Rhule said, via Darin Gantt of Panthers.com. “But that’s not something I’m real interested in. I think it’s kind of a formality. Scott’s here to run the personnel. He’s here to build the roster. He’s here to establish the draft process. I think some things are written into the contract, but I think we’re going to work collaboratively and work together.”
-
I'm not opposed to it, but it's pretty much a last resort type option for me.
-
Works for me. I'd just be surprised if anyone is willing to give up a 3rd for Teddy and take on his current contract rather than just waiting for him to be cut or waiting on us to lower our asking price.
-
Kinda like how guys like Mond and Mills are currently being discussed? I mean, once you get past the top few QBs you're always grasping at straws hoping to get lucky. That's just reality.
-
I honestly don't care where we send him or for what. I just want him gone. It's just my opinion based on nothing more than interview comments, but it seemed like the relationship between Teddy and our staff took a sharp turn south (understandably) after he made those comments blaming the paly call for coming in late after he missed DJ wide open in the endzone.

Evidently Burrow is banging the table for Chase too. Can't discount that. I absolutely think they'll use their 1st rounder to build around Burrow. Very possible they stick with their current OTs and then focus on their IOL later in the draft.

It's definitely lying season.

I would say that UGA would've competed for a national championship the last two years with Fields, but damn... LSU and Bama were just absolute buzzsaws. They would've absolutely been in the mix practically any other years.
-
I don't remember any talk of Fromm that involved anything more than a mid-round pick.
-
If the right QB isn't there at #8 then that would be the right move IMO. Trade down a bit to pick up draft assets next year, then draft a Mond or Mills later. If he doesn't work out (honestly likely) it's no big deal and you swing again next year.

Beating out more talented QBs at the college level doesn't necessarily translate to the NFL level. Everyone seemingly has a man crush on Orlovsky as a QB evaluator, but he's also the reason why Joe Flacco ended up at Delaware. How'd the NFL careers (and draft status) of those two go?

Houston police opening investigation on Deshaun Watson
LinvilleGorge replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
If he's innocent as he claims and is willing to wade through the fire to clear his name, then this is for the best for him. But if he's not... well, he might be the one giving the "massages" soon. -
It's very possible and honestly quite likely that we have one ranked significantly above the other as prospects. I'm torn on which way I'd go there, but I'm leaning hard toward Fields. Tough as a fan to make a call there though because so much of that evaluation comes from the interviews with the players and their coaches to determine how well they're going to translate to the NFL.
-
The difference with us is that they'd be able to pick up an additional pick and still get the same player they would've gotten at #7. They'd be gaining something while giving up nothing. With other teams' offers they would get more trade compensation but they very well may be giving up the player they wanted at #7 too.

I want a lot of things I ain't gonna get.

M&M: QBs we are not talking about much (Mond/Mills)
LinvilleGorge replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
All of that plus their overall D was #9 in the country and #1 in the SEC. -
WFT or Broncos would be the two biggest contenders to make a move like that IMO.

TAMU got carried by their defense. They ran a ball control offense. Whether that was due to Mond's limitations or coaching philosophy I don't know. Early in the year I was intrigued by his physical tools, but the more I watched the more inconsistencies I saw.
