It's why the Panthers fan in me wanted Howell but the Howell fan in me wanted him to end up virtually anywhere else. A mid-round QB coming into a dumpster fire of an organization with a coach on the hot seat and a GM who should be too? It sucks, but it might be a career killer. And that's before you end up on IR before the regular season even starts after looking like the worst rookie QB in the league in limited preseason action.

I don't knock them at all for making the pick. I would've taken Howell instead but Corral was my #2 QB in the class. Well, #2 was right.

Against guys who aren't on rosters anymore who did nothing to gameplan against him. He still showed nothing. Listen, I liked Corral as a prospect. But the reality is that he looked awful and then the durability concerns reared their head. It's a lot more rational to have a wait and see approach on Mayfield vs. continuing to proclaim Corral as the savior of the franchise.

I'm just calling you out on your game. Always shitting on Mayfield and propping up Corral. Corral is on IR. He looked completely dreadful before going on IR. Baker is our best bet. Yeah, that might not pan out but it is what it is. Keep manufacturing your own narratives about how everyone is trying to act like Baker is Cam in his prime while Corral is a future HOFer held down by Rhule. It honestly makes you look completely insane which I personally find highly entertaining.

Mayfield very well may flop. The reality remains that Corral looked unbelievably awful while a couple years ago Mayfield was seen by many as one of the better young QBs in the league. While I've seen no one trying to crown Mayfield you've been here acting like Corral is the next coming of Joe Montana and you're coming completely unglued because of it. There's delusion afoot and you'll find it on the nearest mirror.

You are manufacturing this narrative in your own mind because you're so irrationally butthurt about Matt Corral looking awful and then getting hurt. It's bizarre. I haven't seen anyone trying to crown Baker Mayfield.

It's been one game. I fully expect this to be a poo show so I honestly don't expect him (or Rhule) to be here next year. But Baker will almost certainly be the answer long before Corral. You should probably come to grips with that.

Why wouldn't we be open to him coming back? We're one game into the season. If he plays well he SHOULD be back.

App State has a great little football program. I know a ton of App State fans and by and large they're passionate and rationale. Then there's the Dollar General fans...

I'm on the South Toe. Just took a break to eat a snack. Yeah, it's good to go. Catching mainly 10-12" stockers. A couple small wilds. Nothing over about 12" so far but it's been a good morning. Fast, shallow riffles have been producing the most fish. I stood right here and caught four fish, including the above brown which has probably been the best fish of the morning so far.

This is the type of fan that gets a fanbase rightfully mocked.

Having a winning head to head record against your in-state rivals makes you the best football program on the state.

In the spring and fall I'm fishing at least once a week. Avoid the place like the plague in peak summer. I'll head up Harper and Los Cove though.

They'll be good. It's been getting down in the 50s at night the last 7-10 days. I keep an eye on the Oconaluftee temps. It's the only USGS temp gauge in a naturally flowing stream on WNC that I know of. https://waterdata.usgs.gov/usa/nwis/uv?03512000 Wilson generally runs a a few degrees cooler than the Oconaluftee in the DH section. The gorge gets WARM though. More along the lines of the Oconaluftee. The South Toe generally stays fishable upstream of Carolina Hemlocks unless there's significant drought (which there was in August). There was virtually no non-tailwaters trout waters in the greater NC area that were fishable for most of August. If the upper reaches of the South Toe are too warm then pretty much everything else is gonna be too.

Who won that game a couple weeks ago? I can't recall.

This is awesome for Boone but you couldn't drag me to Boone tomorrow with an 18 wheeler and a logging chain. I'll be waist deep in either the South Toe or Wilson Creek, haven't decided on which.

If he has the self awareness to be humbled then everything that has occurred within the Panthers since his purchase should in fact he very humbling. IF.
