Something that was dropped in my inbox today...
LinvilleGorge replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
I can see any team that doesn't have a cemented legit franchise QB going after him. I'm not familiar enough with the other teams to predict whether or not Watson's situation would put them out of the market for him. Hell, I'm not familiar enough with Tepper to predict whether or not it will for us. -

It'll be very interesting to see what his market looks like. There will undoubtedly be some teams who opt out due to the off field issues and the definite baggage and PR issues he'll bring with him. But, 25 year old MVP caliber QBs simply don't become available. Those guys never hit the market, via FA or via trade. They're just too valuable to give up. So, ultimately I doubt his trade value is significantly impacted. The number of suitors will be down but will still be numerous enough that his overall value will likely be protected. That's just my prediction on it. -

That's the thing, any trade would be months away after this situation is sorted out and he serves out his suspension while on the Texans' roster. We will have a pretty good idea of what we have (or don't have) in Darnold by that time. By that time, we very well could be desperate. Again. -

It would take a LOT of background research on the Panthers' part to make me even close to comfortable to making a deal for Watson at this point and I was ALL for it prior to half the female massage therapists on the planet accusing him of some form of sexual impropriety. -
Back home now :(, but I repped in CO & FL!

Public land access is always push and pull. I'm an off-roader, mountain biker, and hiker. Everyone bitched about the irresponsible SXS and dirt bike riders. Yeah, they suck. BUT, if you're a Jeeper or mountain biker, don't think that the hikers won't be coming after you and your access once your relationship of convenience has gotten the SXSs and dirt bikes banned from the trails. I loved all the off-roading CO had to offer but I hate how crowded it got over the years. Places I'd go and never see another person 15 years ago turned into a Disneyland feel over the past five years. So, I sold and left. -

Hopefully Moton but if I was betting money I'd bet on Erving being the day one starter at LT.

What will a week 1 loss to the Jets do to Darnold?
LinvilleGorge replied to CanadianCat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Honestly, nothing. It's not like a loss to his former team would derail what would've otherwise been a wildly successful career resurrection. He's either gonna bounce back or he's not. -
Moton signed to 4 year, $72M deal
LinvilleGorge replied to AndrewLaskoski's topic in Carolina Panthers
It very well could be. We'll have to wait out the details. It very well could be a four year extension on top of the franchise tag which would put him under contract for 5 years. -

I'd just like to take a moment to LOL @ PFT for this. They put out an article earlier today predicting none of the outstanding franchise tagged players would reach deals prior to the deadline and didn't even mention Moton as one of their long shot probables. -
It definitely helps with transmissibility too. A lot.
-
That was pre-delta variant numbers. Delta is about to be the dominant variant in the U.S. Honestly, it probably already is.
-
The Pfizer vaccine is significantly less effective against transmission the delta variant. An Israeli study found it 64% effective. But it was still highly effective against serious symptomatic disease.

Back from vacation, talk to me about your training camp interests.
LinvilleGorge replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
This. I'm honestly not all that interested in Darnold's play during camp or preseason. I want to see what he looks like when the games actually matter and once opposing DCs have film of him in our system to study. We'll know who Darnold really is by Halloween. -

The same story for much of the past 20+ years - OL, FS. -
BR's list of most overpaid players on every team
LinvilleGorge replied to ladypanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
What are you talking about? If he's such a great player on a contract that adequately reflects his play, what's the problem? Why would we be discussing potentially releasing him? It's almost as if you're coming around to the opinions you've been so diligently arguing against. -

Quote what you have an issue with. Good grief, man. Your homerism triggers you into irrationality and borderline delusions. -

I said his play isn't worthy of his contract. It's not. He's a decent player paid like an All-Pro. That isn't disparagement. -

I said Shaq was a decent starting LB. No more, no less. Then you came with... well, exactly what you're accusing me of. -

It seems some people are just sensitive and try to put words in other people's mouths when they should probably instead focus more on the barely comprehensible jumble of word vomit they're typing. -

We could be an OL away from competing IF this staff and front office are correct on Darnold. Safe to say I have my doubts about that. But this D is close and the offensive play makers are ready. -

For what? Good starting OTs are the hardest OL pieces to find. It would be tough to get enough in return to justify the hole it would create. I'd feel very differently if we had quality young depth behind him, but we don't even know who's going to play opposite him much less behind him. -

If he was very good no one would have an issue with the contract. As a starter, he's basically a JAG. He's not a liability but he's not a difference maker either. He checks a box. You have to reserve the big cap space contract for the difference makers. -

He's a decent starting LB. Nothing more, nothing less. He's paid like an All-Pro and that's the problem. No one would be complaining about Shaq and his contract if his contract was reflective of his play.
