It's all a potential path to disaster, but the high draft picks - even though plenty of them bust - have a lot higher success rate than vet retreads.
-
A highly drafted rookie probably buys you another two years, maybe even three if he's showing promise. Another vet flop might only get you one.
-
I think Tepper's patience might start wearing thin if Darnold flops.
-
fug a Jimmy G. If Sam flops and Watson is untouchable, it's gonna be Rattler or Howell. We're going all in.
-
Yep, we'll see how it plays out. I do think that if Darnold flops we're gonna swing BIG next year. Enough half stepping. Identify a QB and go get him.
-
Really hard to get excited about the upcoming season when you have no clue what to expect because TC is setup like an undercover CIA meeting.
-
Seriously. TC is basically uncoverable right now. We get maybe a dozen tweets and a few pictures from the grassy knoll each practice and that's pretty much it.
-
It's still the off-season. It's a borderline miracle it's still even vaguely football related.
-
Yeah, I'm giving us the benefit of the doubt and assuming we simply weren't that high on Fields. Because if we would've drafted him at #3 and made the trade for Darnold because we didn't think Fields would be there then passed on Fields when he did end up being there at #8... wow. We'd be really dumb.

I wouldn't be holding my breath. Hopefully he can provide decent depth. -

Will Steve Smith be a First Ballot HOF?
LinvilleGorge replied to SBBlue's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think he'll be a HOFer but I don't think he'll be first ballot. I'd love to be wrong about that second part. -
Staying somewhere that sucks.

If I'm the DC I'm definitely pushing for the vet QB. If we're not taking a QB in the 1st, it's either OT or DB. Now I have a 50/50 shot of getting that pick to go my way.

Boston Beer is flailing right now. They bet big on the hard seltzer market that fizzled out just as they were going all in and now they're flailing. They've forgotten who they are as a company as other craft brewers have blown past them and now they're trying to figure out where they fit into the marketplace. I thought their purchase of Dogfish Head signaled a return to their roots, but they're lost. I'm not sure if they're gonna make it long-term to be honest

Outside of Burns, the rest of these guys are gonna rotate so much that I'm not sure it matters who's actually listed as the "starter". It may change week to week. Go out there and make a couple plays and the coaches are probably gonna stick with the "hot hand" that day.

The dealership is just going to do the bare minimum of what is required of them by law. At the end of the day, they don't care whether you're getting your money from a good job downtown or slinging coke on the corner. That's law enforcement and the IRS's concern not theirs. They're only going to report to the IRS what is absolutely required of them.
-
Yeah, when I said amiss I just meant generally speaking. Something is off here. You don't just up and decide to trade last year's top 10 pick on the cusp of preseason starting on a whim.
-
People who think you can get a better deal with cash don't understand how car dealerships work. They generate a lot of their profit off of the financing piece and add ons after the deal on the car has been agreed upon.

Damn.

Carolina Panthers Training Camp - Tuesday Thread
LinvilleGorge replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
I like DJ and CMC getting some light work at punt returns. I'd be shocked to see either ever used as the primary returner, but if you get in a crucial spot in a crucial game, it's nice to have your best runners with the football having some experience fielding punts. -
It's just conversation. Real games will start soon enough.
-
The only person who thinks I "called out" @AU-panther is you. It completely escapes you that people can have a football conversation and even disagree on matters and not take it personally. I don't even think you think that. You just desperately seek out a fight in every thread you post in. You get butthurt, get personal, proclaim over and over to be done, tell people to stop quoting you, proclaim to be done again. Round and round. You're like Teddy Bridgewater. You suck at this but it's everyone else's fault.
