  1. Yep. The key difference being that Tiger and the Williams sisters had prodigal talent. You gotta win the genetic lottery first. Without winning the genetic lottery all the hard work is for naught. The prodigal talent is going to blow by your years of hard work in a matter of weeks. The kid's idiot dad never really played sports growing up and was (and is) kind a quiet loner. Nothing wrong with that, but it clearly wasn't by choice. He really wanted to be the cool jock so he's overcompensating (he has both a bro'd out diesel truck and a lifted Jeep that never leaves pavement) so he's going to try to make sure his son is that. When idiot dad hears sports announcers talk about so and so being an "average athlete" he's too dumb to realize they mean "average athlete" for a professional athlete which still means "freak genetic mutant" among the population at large.
  2. Even golf leans heavily toward natural talent. The field is just significantly narrowed because you pretty much have to be rich to play enough golf as a youngster to have a chance.
  3. You would think. I grew up with some guys who played D1 ball and a couple who had lengthy pro careers abroad and none of them ever sniffed pro sports in America and they were all mutants. I don't think this kid's dad ever really played sports himself and encountered people who were simply way more physically talented. Just in a different athletic universe. Those are the guys who go on to play D1 sports and maybe have a chance at the pros.
  4. Oh, we know what we have in Sam. We have
  5. Cleveland ain't taking on Sam Darnold. I have no idea who their third option is either but I'd take whoever it is over Sam Darnold and his salary. *Just looked it up, it's Jacoby Brissett. Yes, without a doubt I'm taking Brissett over Darnold.
  6. Call it "the Tepper Effect". Three straight five win seasons kills the optimism of all but the most delusionally optimistic
  7. I think Matt Rhule is what killed Matt Rhule's career. He's just not cut out for the NFL. Hell, I'm not convinced he's cut out for sustained success at the college level.
  8. I'm willing to give McAdoo a shot. We'll see what he can do. My expectations? We're all talking draft again by Halloween. So, basically status quo Tepper Panthers.
  9. It's been basically the same game with a yearly roster update for over a decade and offline franchise mode keeps getting worse because they want everyone playing online to encourage spending more $$$.
  10. It's just sad to watch. They're setting this kid up for failure and disappointment by putting this bullshit of professional baseball in his head while putting everything else on the back burner all because dad is trying to chase his own pipe dream through his son and mom won't stand up to dad's delusion. dad just doesn't understand that you have to win the genetic lottery first. Without winning that, you have no chance at pro sports. Sorry, it's just a no go no matter how hard you work.
  11. You're not far from getting banned. The shtick is getting beyond old. It basically just comes down to which one of the mods gets tired enough of it to pull the trigger but keep it up and it's coming and none of us are going to be willing to save you when it happens. Fair warning.
  12. We need a coach and a QB. Unfortunately, those are the two must have pieces. You can have a perennially great team that has weaknesses practically anywhere else but you cannot be weak at QB or coach if you want to consistently compete.
  13. Three straight five win seasons have pretty much weeded out the majority of the delusional and the fairweather.
  14. Tepper was our great hope. Finally, an owner who would put his team first instead of the league as a whole. We could finally have a chance to become a perennial contender. But then that plane crashed and burned before the honeymoon could even get started.
  15. You can if you have billions and line the right pockets.
  16. Hell, being not very good would be our best season in awhile. For three years now we've been firmly entrenched in the "sucks ass" category.
  17. David Tepper: "Mediocrity will not be tolerated" The part he muttered under his breath that the press didn't catch: "it will be remembered as the good old days"
  18. Hell, they all look awesome at home. Yeah, that TV that's 5x the price might look better in the store side by side but guess what? That TV that's 5x the price won't be right beside my budget TV in my den.
  19. Here's the thing about any GoFundMe or whatever... if you don't like it and don't want to donate, just don't. I mean, there are people who donate money to fuging politicians.
  20. Maybe, we'll see. Burrow takes most of that punishment because Cincy's OL has been low key damn near as bad as ours and yet he's still elite. Herbert has crazy talent and may have the better career when all is said and done but if I was holding Burrow I wouldn't trade him for anyone else.
  21. Yeah, I'd have Burrow #1 for sure. Not to discount Herbert and Jackson but Cincy going to the SB was nuts. Hell, Borrow and Chase might should've been #1 and #2.
