It's baffling. I mean, imagine what Fields would've look like playing against that level of competition
-
Yeah, he looks like a pretty fast guy against guys who couldn't play D1 football. Vick and Lamar made high level D1 players look like they were running in wet concrete. They looked like easily the fastest guy on the field every Saturday. Those guys made really fast guys looks slow.
-
If he could run 4.3s like folks claim he'd run. I see a 4.5s guy when I watch him. Still a fast QB but no Michael Vick or Lamar Jackson.

Media will be allowed in the locker rooms again
LinvilleGorge replied to Cdparr7's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't think they should be in locker rooms. I mean, damn. Give these guys some space and some privacy. They're gonna hold a media session here in just a few anyway. -
Yep. And they cracked last time in a similar situation during Coach K's home curtain call. I'll be rooting like hell for my Heels like always, but I think of you played this Final Four out 10 times KU cuts down the nets in at least 6 of them. They look GOOD and Nova losing their second best player out of a very short rotation hurts them bad.

Did Pitt move from an offense last seen when football was played in leather sheets to a high flying modern offense this past off-season? People keep trying to make this comp happen but watching the players squashes it pretty hard.
-
Truth. Good lord Elway fell for the '80s prototype guy over and over again. If he was 6'3"+ with a big arm Elway just couldn't resist. Guarantee you Carson Strong is his #1 QB this year. He can't help himself.

Rhule: Sam Darnold will take a huge step this year
LinvilleGorge replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Our actions say exactly that. Actions speak louder than words. -
Then the Niners mortgaged their future on Trey Lance after reportedly balking on Mac Jones because they're were getting clowned so hard. Hell, they might be every bit as bad as us at evaluating QBs so I wouldn't take a great deal of comfort in that.

Yep. That's why we were desperately trying to trade for Watson and we've been heavily scouting every QB in this draft class. -
Fitterer on the possibility of a trade back

A lot of truth to this. All of takes is a down year for your team with your OL collapsing and all your weapons leaving and now all of a sudden all the questions are about you. -
Honestly, I bet he would. Finding a franchise QB on the 3rd round is lucky as hell.
-
At least he's willing to admit it. I agree with him though. If you don't have a QB then QB is always your biggest need and historically your best bet by far of finding a franchise QB is in the 1st round of the draft. However, my concern remains this crew's ability to evaluate QB talent. I haven't seen much to hang my hat of hopes on there. Hell, I think they might even realize it themselves, hence their hesitancy to draft one.

Considering this guy is wrong about everything this might be the strongest Howell endorsement yet.
-
We'll see. My money is on Howell out of this class. Easy.
-
Too much is made of it because almost all of his highlights reels are full of deep balls. When he's not slinging it 40+ yards his delivery looks pretty typical. Not exceptionally quick but not alarmingly slow either, just pretty typical
-
Now let's have a look at Pickett's other seasons. You know, when he was barely even mediocre.
-
All the criticisms of being one read and run are valid for this year but it was out of sheer necessity. He almost never ran prior to this year. The coaches actually told him not to because we didn't have a viable backup.
-
I've always said that physically Baker is a good comp for Howell. Baker has a bit stronger arm, Howell is a bit better of an athlete. There's a big difference between the ears though. Baker would've had an absolute meltdown at Carolina last year.
-
I'm pretty much ready to give up on Tepper's Panthers. Howell being the best QB in the draft is my opinion. I don't think it's undisputed. There is no Luck or Lawrence in this draft that checks every "once in a decade" box.
-
I think Howell is the best QB in the draft because he has all the tools and he has shown he can handle adversity without getting rattled or frustrated. UNC was horrible last year. The OL absolutely fell apart and there was only one legit receiver on the roster. Howell had never ran before and transitioned to a one read and bolt QB out of necessity. I didn't need to see Howell go through progressions. I'd already seen it. What I got to see last year is how Howell handled getting the absolute hell beat out of him while having to carry the entire offense and not having a defense to lean on. Anyone who was high on Howell prior should honestly be even higher on him. Don't watch the team, watch the player.
-
Oh... now you're gonna okay the "giving my opinion" card after you initiall If you don't think Howell elevated UNC you didn't watch the games. I'm not sure UNC beats a single D1 opponent last year without Howell. Hell, just of back and watch UNC vs. Pitt and honestly tell me who was the best QB on the field. Swap the QBs and Pitt wins that game by 3-4 TDs.

Just calling you out for what you are. Meanwhile...

Over and over again.
