Darnold sucks. You gotta give up. I said before we traded for him that he has a fatal flaw. He's a panicker. You can't fix panic. It'll always rear it's ugly head.
-
But we can. How did he play when he wasn't the oldest guy on the field and wasn't surrounded by an above average veteran team? Oh wee mayne. Without an extra year of eligibility, Pickett is entering the draft as a senior coming off a 2400 yard 13 TD 9 INT season. He's going undrafted in last year's draft. Reality.
-
Much better supporting cast and he's as old as most second year NFL players. He's a literal man playing against boys. Swap Pickett and Howell and UNC probably wins 3 games and Pickett is a priority UDFA. Real talk. Pickett is the beneficiary of a better than average veteran team and an addition year of eligibility due to COVID.

You must have missed my opinions on a lot of former Heels prospects then.

He's gonna be the best QB out of this draft class.

We don't do smart things at QB so that's off the table
-
All signs are pointing this direction. I can get talked into Willis being worth a shot but we need to stay far away from Pickett.

I wonder who that "young player" might be?

Watson not out of woods yet - 2nd grand jury
LinvilleGorge replied to FugginPoo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Oh wee mayne. Trading huge resources, giving out a massive guaranteed contract, and alienating their current QB to take a swing on a guy with massive black clouds overhead just to watch him get indicted... that would be maximum Cleveland Browns poo right there. -
Love is probably a flat out bust.

What matters: a QB’s talent or their situation?
LinvilleGorge replied to Tbe's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's both. If you have a great QB in a bad situation you end up with the Rivers era Chargers or Stafford era Lions. But there's a reason why QB busts rarely bounce back elsewhere. I don't think they were "ruined" I just don't think they were ever up to the task to begin with. -
Chris Simms top QB is Matt Corral and why you should listen

Hell I'd give up an additional late rounder just to be off the hook on Darnold's contract. -

Whoever this guy has as his #1 in hindsight everyone will realize should've been a UDFA. -

The people who are buying into this Mac Jones myth didn't actually watch him play. He's what most thought he'd be - a very limited NFL QB.- 119 replies

Historically "winning" free agency has rarely translated to winning on the field.

He had Zach Wilson over Trevor Lawrence last year -
Why if three OL are gone? It's possible.

The only issue I have with drafting a QB is the crew that will be evaluating and ultimately drafting that QB. I don't have much faith after the Teddy and Darnold debacles.
-
Yeah, when you make a trade like the Niners did for Lance you're really pushing all your chips to the table on a guy who's never taken a snap in the NFL. That's wildly risky.
-
Yeah, everyone laments that this class lacks the type of guys we wouldn't be in position to draft anyway at #6. Slam dunk QB prospects go #1 overall. And the last one of those that came out played so spectacularly that his team is once again drafting #1 overall.
-
Doesn't shock me considering they mortgaged their entire future on Trey Lance and that's looking like bust city. Meanwhile, the Panthers need to marinate extra hard on that. The team that had Jimmy G on the roster was willing to offer a 1st round pick for Sam Darnold. Oh wee fuging mayne. Stay all the way out on that deal.

Scouting reports for the top three quarterbacks
LinvilleGorge replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
Most analysts had Baker as a mid-late 1st rounder before it became clear the Browns were zeroing in on him. Hell, I always hated Darnold as a prospect. He had serious turnover issues dating back to college, both INTs and fumbles. At least some parts of his game translated to the NFL. -
Thoughts and prayers to @SizzleBuzz. It's gotta be rough on him watching players force themselves out of contracts left and right this off-season.
