  1. And... guess who scores! Aho! Good feed from Necas.
  2. Aho hasn't scored in a minute- he's starting to press and getting penalties instead of points.
  3. The phantom mask issue. Veteran move after getting pelted with about 5 shots. (Quick, that is.)
  4. If the PK could just improve just a little...
  5. BOOM! All started by Burns laying out for yet another break-away save.
  6. Some may be watching UNC getting trucked by Clemson. Off topic, but Mack Brown isn't getting that football team to the next level.
  7. Skjei skores on a great hustle play and pass from Martinook. Kochetkov looks calm and focused thus far. Pesce's 500th game. Bet he gets a point tonight.
  8. Skjei skores. (Just came to me). Kochtkov seeing early action and standing tall. Couple good saves already.
  9. I'm tuning in tonight. No practice yesterday or a morning skate this today, so they may be fresh, but a little tight.
  10. He was soft, cramping or not. No excuse for 2 of their 3 goals. Regardless, there are questions that need answers..
  11. Andersen gets hurt and Kochetkov gets recalled from Chicago. Raanta and Kochetkov split time in the crease until Thursday night. Raanta gets pulled following the second intermission. He gave up 3 goals in 15 shots, and, giving Raanta the benefit of the doubt, 2 of them were soft. Andersen is skating in Raleigh and his return appears to be imminent, but it's only a matter of time before he's hurt again. So, with Andersen's $4.5M, Raanta's $2M and Kochetkov's $842k now and $2M starting next season, what are the Canes options? They can't assign either Andersen or Raanta to Chicago without waiving them first and see if they clear. Will they send Kochetkov back to Chicago once Andersen is healthy? Let's read your thoughts!
  12. Fwiw, I noted the goalie change before any of you... And you all know that's the exception, not the rule.
  13. Until that happens, though, RBA's tendency will let the Blues score 6 or 8 before he pulls Raanta.
  14. Thanks for keeping this a close game, Raata. Without your effort, this could have been a shut out win.
  15. Yeah, I'm switching over to the Bill's game. I don't think this is the Canes night.
  16. Spending way too much time in their own end playing D. Got to get the cycle going and get some O-zone time.
  17. Absolutely have to pummel Binnington with shots from everywhere. I'll take 40 shots tonight and the Canes put 4 on the board. This is a very winnable game. And, if the Canes continue playing well, don't expect TT until it's necessary.
  18. Last Time Out: Beginning a six-game stretch on the road Tuesday night in the Steel City, the Canes started their venture on the right foot. An early goal from Sidney Crosby put Carolina behind early, but middle period tallies from Martin Necas and Andrei Svechnikov flipped the game around. In the third it looked like the visitors would be able to ride out the game with the same 2-1 score, but Pittsburgh found success with the extra attacker on. Heading to overtime for the fifth time in their last seven games, Brett Pesce then put home a two-on-none with Andrei Svechnikov to give his team the win. Big Time Brett: Tuesday's game-winning goal for Brett Pesce was his second in as many contests. Saturday afternoon at PNC Arena he scored a late power play goal, advancing Carolina past the Calgary Flames. #22 now has a three-game point streak, totaling four points on the run. Heating Up: Speaking of three-game point streaks, Seth Jarvis, Stefan Noesen and Andrei Svechnikov all also join Pesce with at least one point in three consecutive contests. Volume Shooting: The Hurricanes outshot the Penguins 39-32 on Tuesday, and they have now outshot their opponents in 19 of 23 games in 2022-23, including all 12 of their wins. Carolina has registered 35 or more shots in 13 games this season, tied for the third-most such outings of any NHL team behind only NJD and FLA (both with 17). Small Movement: Wednesday afternoon the Canes acquired defenseman Zack Hayes from the Vegas Golden Knights. The 23-year-old was assigned to Chicago (AHL) after being acquired with hopes of assisting a young Wolves blue line. Brock Sheahan's squad is 5-9-2 to start the season, seventh in the Central Division. Almost Turbo Time?: Forward Teuvo Teravainen traveled with the team to begin the first leg of their six-game road stint, inching closer to returning to the lineup. The 28-year-old winger suffered a non-concussion upper-body injury on November 10 in the team's win over Edmonton. After skating with Max Pacioretty prior to the team's practice last week, Teravainen returned to team practice Monday morning in a yellow non-contract jersey, took part in Tuesday's morning skate and practiced again on Wednesday. Rod Brind'Amour has said that he is hopeful #86 can play at some point on this trip. On The Other Side: After an eight-game losing streak in October into November, the Blues responded with a seven-game win streak to come back to earth. Since the run (which has since ended) started on November 10, St. Louis has scored 39 goals, tied for third-most in the NHL. What's marveling is that their 68% penalty kill during that time is 28th in the league. Jordan Kyrou has led the offense since the second week in November, publishing 14 points in 11 games. Forwards: Jarvis - Aho - Necas Svechnikov - Kotkaniemi - Noesen Martinook - Staal - Fast Drury - Stastny - Stepan Defense: Slavin - Burns Skjei - Pesce de Haan - Chatfield Goalies: Raanta
  19. https://variety.com/2022/music/news/christine-mcvie-dead-fleetwood-mac-singer-songwriter-1235445846/ Singer-songwriter-keyboardist Christine McVie, who enjoyed a long tenure in the London-bred band Fleetwood Mac before becoming a key contributor to the group’s multi-platinum success of the late ‘70s, died Nov. 30 after a short illness. She was 79. Her family released a statement, saying: “On behalf of Christine McVie’s family, it is with a heavy heart we are informing you of Christine’s death. She passed away peacefully at hospital this morning, Wednesday, November 30th 2022, following a short illness. She was in the company of her family. We kindly ask that you respect the family’s privacy at this extremely painful time, and we would like everyone to keep Christine in their hearts and remember the life of an incredible human being, and revered musician who was loved universally. RIP Christine McVie.” ---------------------------------- As classy an individual you'll find in what can be a nasty business.
  20. Interesting move there. Wonder if it's a preparation move for next season knowing the Canes will likely not keep DeHaan, maybe Coghlan and Burns (never know when he'll retire).
