  1. And I'll have to disagree with you regarding a couple of scenarios. Fast is playing the best hockey of his career at 30 years old and he's only getting $2M a year. A bargain for what he brings to the ice every night. Stepan is a one-year rental. Everyone knows he was brought here as a veteran presence alongside Staal to be the leadership and example for the young guys. So he'll be gone, but only represents $1.35M. Nino is going to get paid and whether or not the Canes are the ones paying him will be his choice. My guess is should he want anything north of $6.25M, he'll be gone. Trocheck is in the same position. I believe he'll get an offer from Carolina, but it might not be enough for him to stay. KK will get Vinny's line when Vincent leaves. Stepan and Trocheck will/can be replaced with Drury, Jarvis and KK. RFAs who will get offers: all of them. TDA, Bear, KK, Lorentz and Necas. I don't know how you say, "No" to any of them.
  2. "Saints are where we should be....." In New Orleans? Sounds good to me. When do they leave?
  3. Burn BOA to the ground. Fire the entire coaching staff. Relocate the team.
  4. His entry level contract was signed on July 7, 2021. So, yeah, there's a huge consideration depending on whether the games he played prior to his entry level contract was signed, just as you mentioned. And, if the World Cup games are included, he's played 75 games if you count Vaxjo, WC, Chicago and Carolina.
  5. If the NHL is going to continue to schedule games for teams that are short-handed, they need to make some concessions with regard to minor league call-ups, like not counting their games against the exemption rule, for example. Or, they need to allow teams to call up enough players to fill out a game-day roster without any salary cap or minor league reassignment ramifications. The league did really well last season with COVID, but they're falling on their faces this year. All that said, the next time Drury is called up will be his last call up- he'll be here for good. The Canes will have to find a way to fit him in without losing key pieces to the roster.
  6. https://www.nhl.com/hurricanes/news/canes-reassign-drury-to-chicago/c-329156660 RALEIGH, NC - Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned forward Jack Drury to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League (AHL). Drury, 21, has recorded 16 points (7g, 9a) in 23 AHL games with Chicago this season and ranks tied for fourth on the team in goals and fifth in points. The 5'11", 174-pound forward has scored two goals in two NHL games in 2021-22, becoming the fifth player in franchise history and the third player since relocation to score in each of his first two career NHL contests. Drury tallied 30 points (10g, 20a) in 41 games with Vaxjo Lakers of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) during his first professional season in 2020-21, earning selection as a finalist for the league's Rookie of the Year and helping Vaxjo capture the Le Mat Trophy as SHL champions. Prior to turning professional, Drury played two seasons of college hockey at Harvard from 2018-20, posting 63 points (29g, 34a) in 60 games. He also earned 77 points (28g, 49a) in 100 USHL games with Waterloo from 2016-18, serving as captain in his second season with the Black Hawks. The New York, N.Y., native has represented the United States at numerous international tournaments, winning a silver medal at the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship and a bronze medal at the 2021 IIHF World Championship. Drury was selected by Carolina in the second round, 42nd overall, of the 2018 NHL Draft. --------------------------------------------- This was a move to protect him.
  7. Maybe he plays for Necas if Marty is out with a concussion. Good problem to have, no? More talent than you've got room for?
  8. Tomorrow's back-to-back with Nashville is off. We'll see if Ottawa happens on Thursday.
  9. The backup goalie for the Kings plays for the Greenville (SC) Swamp Rabbits of the ECHL. Their #2 is out with COVID. Fun fact: swamp rabbits are also known as "cane-cutters."
  10. Bad turnover = Kings goal. That 2nd period last few minutes let-down.
  11. Youngsters are working. Leivo and Potulraski are getting it done. Drury goes without saying. And KK will earn his center spot on the 2nd line when Aho comes back. He could be Vinny's replacement if the Canes can't re-sign him.
  12. Necas out- probable concussion from the cheap high hit he took. Someone needs to go after Durzi and put him down.
  13. Solid start. PK now. Arvidsson was a Cane killer when he was in Nashville. Solid PK. Calm and smooth.
  14. Boston v. Canadiens tonite is postponed. 4 games scheduled for tonite shut down.
  15. Curious Stat from last night: Slavin's TOI was the lowest it's been in at least 4 games. Trocheck, Necas, Pesce and Slavin all had team high 23 minutes and change.
  16. Yes sir. I'm right there with ya. My hope is this O version isn't as debilitating as the original or Delta variants for those who are vaxxed and boosted. For those who remain unvaxxed, my sympathy and empathy is nearly non-existent at this point.
  17. If these guys aren't completely gassed by the third period, they could win this game. Lots of pressure on the puck, lots of time in the Detroit end. Can't be bashful to shoot the puck.
  18. RALEIGH, NC. - Tonight will be anything but typical for the Carolina Hurricanes, as they dress a shorthanded lineup against the Detroit Red Wings. Due to COVID-19 Protocols and salary cap constraints, the team is only able to dress 16 skaters and two goaltenders this evening, two skaters short of a normal NHL lineup. Currently the following skaters are out due to measures caused by the virus (alphabetical, last): Sebastian Aho, Ian Cole, Seth Jarvis, Steven Lorentz, Jordan Staal, Andrei Svechnikov. This morning the team was able to recall Jack Drury from Chicago to take the roster spot vacated by Jalen Chatfield moving to injured reserve on Tuesday. In addition to Drury, the team was granted two emergency exemptions by the NHL to reach the 16, selecting Stefan Noesen and Andrew Poturalski. Lastly, Brett Pesce and Tony DeAngelo are set to return for the first time in 17 days. The two were removed from protocol last Thursday, however, could not join the team in Canada and then Tuesday's game was postponed. The team's projected lineup for this evening against the Red Wings is as follows: Forwards: Niederreiter - Trocheck - Necas Teravainen - Kotkaniemi - Fast Drury - Stepan - Noesen - Poturalski Defensemen: Slavin - DeAngelo Skjei - Pesce Smith - Bear Starting Goalie: Andersen
  19. I'd still like to know how the league is deciding what/when/how teams can postpone games. A couple games have been postponed and the teams have fewer guys in protocol than the Canes. Are the teams opting out of the games or is the league dictating this, because it sure looks pretty haphazard at this point.
  20. Aho, KK, Necas, and a "to be named later" next season. We could be pleasantly surprised about Trocheck. Since the article appeared about him being a UFA and how his production has lagged from last season, he's really come on lately. I like Necas on the wing, although he has and can play center; but I like his speed on the wing. Lorentz is the guy I'd like to see in the middle. His confidence continues to grow and I think he can become a big net-front presence.
  21. It looks like they will test before/during the morning skate and again later this afternoon and the game tonight will be dependent on those results, for both teams.
