Just got back from San Diego and the wife and I used Uber for everything- was far less than renting a car for 3 days... Anyway, guy picked us up one evening going to dinner in his Tesla and he told us the only time he uses it is when driving for Uber and doing errands around town. No long distance and no interstate. The energy consumption is crazy if he goes over 60 on the interstate. And, if you know anything, please understand that doing 60 on a SoCal interstate will get you killed. He says a full charge nets him a little over 300 miles, but if it's on the interstate at 65 or 70, it drops to less than 250.

It's nothing but RBA's ego getting in the way of proven performance if Necas isn't playing center this season. Last season wasn't his best, but he had a breakout year playing center in 22-23, so I'm not sure what the deal is unless RBA wanted better D, which he did improve on last season. Still some work to be done there.

8 years @ $7.5M per year being reported. Done.

C'mon, man. Let's get this thing done and start playing hockey!

Laine went to the Habs for a former 3rd round pick in D-man Jordan Harris and a 2026 2nd round pick. Columbus retains no salary. Harris signed a 2-year extension in February for $1.4M AAV. In other words, Columbus unloaded Laine for peanuts .

Fan Fest was in Clemson? Really? I did not know that, but, why would I?

Inactives: Starters get the night off against Jets
Anybodyhome replied to Carolina Panthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
Starters have been taking games off for a few years now. Of course, a lot of them wouldn't be starters on other NFL teams, so, yeah, mail it in. -
Anyone associated with the organization giving a sh!t about the fan experience is lying to you. Armanti Edwards pounded the drum Saturday night? 'Nuff said.

Nope, nope and more nope. I was high on this guy a few years back when he was with the Winnipeg Jets, but he's since proven himself as a locker room cancer. He was a pain in the ass in Canada, got moved to Columbus and guess what? He's right back at it. He couldn't get along with Scheifele and Wheeler in Winnipeg, because neither really wanted to play on the same line as Laine. Coach in Winnipeg at the time was Paul Maurice. If he wasn't such a spoiled, entitled asshat, he could have stayed and made the Jets a much better team. But no, he gets shipped to Columbus and, last season, suffers a concussion (it was not a clean hit) and later, a broken collarbone. He ultimately ended up in the Player Assistance Program. Wouldn't surprise me if he does a Kuznetsov and heads back to his native Finland. I'd be very surprised is anyone wants to take a chance on him for the kind of money he'll probably want. And, Waddell is trying to move him even though he has a 10-team NMC. Not often you see a GM of Waddell's caliber want to move someone with that kind of a cap hit. He must know Laine won't come close to earning $8.7M this season. And, he's carrying an $8.7M cap hit.

What "bloodlines?" Contrary to a lot of assumptions, he is not related to Jake Plummer. He's a JAG QB who bounced thru 3 different schools during his collegiate career and never stayed in one place long enough to establish a game.

Panthers in preseason look no different than the regular season the last several years.

Bryce Young won't play in preseason opener
Anybodyhome replied to Carolina Panthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah, why would he need any game-like practice? -
Oh, no doubt this is still a possibility. His defense improved a lot last season (of course, anything would have been considered an improvement), and he's about the most trusted guy on PP1 to carry the puck into the zone. Not to mention his proclivity for OT goals and his flat out speed in the transition game.

First time I saw them live was 1975 at the San Diego Sports Arena on the "Toys in the Attic" tour. I was lucky enough to see them a total of 5 times over the decades, the last being in Greensboro in 2006 when Lenny Kravitz opened for them. Had tickets to the latest tour last September in Raleigh when Tyler's vocal cords went out. I felt like they wouldn't come back after that and got a refund, and never really considered buying tickets for the rescheduled show. Their first 4 albums are as good as one could ask for from any band. Their self-titled first album (also known as the Dream On album) in 1973 has some very underrated tracks in Mama Kin and One Way Street. Although the 1975 Toys in the Attic might be their early best with most people, I actually thought 1976's Rocks was better and 1973's Get your Wings to be the best of the 4. Tyler has even admitted the next 8 albums were all drug-induced, under the influence contracted albums that had little to rave about. Their live albums were nothing special, but their commercial/radio successes came much later in their career. I'll still take their first 4 records over anything else they've done since.

If the Canes wanted to keep him and he wanted to stay, the deal would have been for 6-7 years. Remember, he filed for arbitration, not the team. And the max he would have gotten at arbitration was 2 years. Again, the Canes hold all the cards and Necas is now in a position to perform if he wants to get paid big time forward money with his next contract.
-
Necas isn't going anywhere until the TDL. At $6.5M, teams needing a scoring forward will be taking a look, depending on what kind of season he's having. The Canes hold all the cards right now.
-
"Only players that are 27 or older or have 7 accrued seasons are eligible for No Trade or No Movement clauses. NTC means the player cannot be traded without approval." Necas is not 27 nor does he have 7 seasons under his belt.
-
He'll be trade bait at the deadline. If there's not a deal good enough, he's here until the 25-26 TDL.

Who went into court and actually argued this from a true, legal position? There isn't a farm out there (Perdue, Smithfield, Tyson, Sanderson) who has ever claimed boneless wings are actually wings. Matter of fact, most all of them have openly admitted boneless wings are, in fact, oversized nuggets made from white and dark meat from breasts, thighs and other leftover parts.
-
Rumor mill today has the Canes possibly offering $6M AAV to Necas before arbitration.
-
Martin Necas's arbitration hearing is scheduled for August 4, the last day of the arbitration window.
-
Only way I see that happening is the Canes buying out his KHL contract. And I think the league has to approve that and it comes out of the team's cap space. I could be totally wrong, but I think that's how it works.

https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/jack-drury-hurricanes-avoid-arbitration-with-two-year-deal/ If the Canes had any real belief he was going to be anything better than a third or 4th line guy, he would have gotten a minimum 4-5 years. This is basically a "Show us what you got, because right now, we're not feeling it," deal. He took this deal instead of arbitration, which also says a lot. I'd bet money he wanted twice what his AAV is now, like $3.5M AAV.
