  1. On a good night, maybe. Slavin and Burns are so good together and you know what kind of minutes those 2 put up, I'd be surprised if the defensive liability of Karlsson allows him to play more than 16 a game. And then, how do you justify that AAV for less than 20 minutes per game? Simple answer: you don't and can't.
  2. "Garbage teams trade for Haula, and they go to the playoffs." Or, good teams trade for Haula and they end up out of the playoffs early.
  3. Kempe I named back toward the end of June as a possible fit. As well as Troy Terry and Tomas Tatar.
  4. The leafs added Tyler Bertuzzi, Ryan Reaves and Max Domi so far this off season. This adds a physical dimension to a team that was similar to Carolina in that there wasn't the gritty guy to protect Aho. The Leafs had no one to get nasty while protecting Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner. Granted, the Leafs are now in salary cap hell and need to dump $8M (LTIRs not included; $3.2M with LTIR). Is Nylander (as yet unsigned for the 2024-2025 season and carrying a $7M cap hit) available? He might be.
  5. He officially cleared waivers yesterday afternoon and the Philadelphia buyout was completed, making him a UFA. Philly went to social media and took their parting shots. Was kind of petty with Philly- almost sounded like someone gave Torts the pen to write the team's social media post.
  6. I've long been off the EK deal. I don't think it's necessary, I don't think it improves the team from either a salary cap position or a playoff hockey contender position.
  7. Does nobody remember Oscar Madison and Felix Unger from The Odd Couple?
  8. TDA officially cleared waivers and is now a free agent. Now we find out if the Canes were just playing chicken or.. My thoughts (again): go ahead and sign him on the cheap, find a forward and use some of the remaining cap to extend Aho and ?
  9. Any dosing recommendations based on weight? I'd prefer a more organic or holistic approach and I may give this a try.
  10. Lots of thunder starting very early this morning, around 3 or so. Not much sleep and Master of Disaster went nuts, barking and crying. Wife actually got up and sat with him and held him for a while. Seems like he's getting more reactive the older he gets...
  11. Absolutely. With one over-worked skimmer, it's allowing dirty water in the pool longer, which just exponentially exacerbates the issue, which is why you're having to stay on top of it. Adding a second skimmer will get the crap out quicker, allowing it less time to make things worse. I might also recommend one of the cordless vacuums that cruises the pool, too.
  12. Except that Drury has already asked to be traded. Unless RBA and Waddell have had a sit-down with him and brought him around, he's not playing to his max effort if he doesn't want to be here.
  13. Better yet, trade Pesce and Drury for the best wing you can find and get a couple extensions done to relieve the pressure on next year's cap.
  14. I'm not sure about that one. I haven't done the math, but I don't thing the cap space isn't there, even with 35% being retained. A Pesce trade would have to get done or be involved as part of a 3-team deal. The Canes only have $2.5M to spend without a Pesce trade. And, I'll admit, I'm still believing a winger is the better move here, not another right-handed defenseman.
  15. Wish my wife wasn't allergic, I need a mouser. But it would probably never make it with the birds of prey, coyotes and fox around here.
  16. I've used a thunder jacket on my oldest as he just loses it when there are thunder storms, hunters in the woods and July 4th. It works as long as you know ahead of time there is going to be noise (July 4th). But try to put it on and expect results after he's already heard whatever the noise is and they aren't worth crap. Dogs sense the barometric pressure change and, given they hear twice as many frequencies and from 4 times the distance we can, if there's any way to get the jacket on before, it will work. But, he's over 8 years old and nothing will change at this point. So, when there's a thunderclap and he's running around the back acre barking at the sky... well.... Not much for doing the drug thing, but benadryl works also.
  17. Oh, and if you're not familiar with Brendan Lemieux, just You Tube him and watch all of his fights, cheap shots included. Never thought I'd see the day the Canes would sign someone with that rep and style of play.
  18. I don't want to jinx this, but didn't Max Patches say the same thing about his Achilles?
  19. Oh, wtf.... This does nothing for Carolina. As a matter of fact, it's subtraction by addition. The guy is a penalty machine (484 PIM in 275 games). I don't fugging understand this move at all except to say, are the Canes now playing guys to be healthy scratches every game? I wouldn't let this guy on the ice between periods, let alone when the game is in the balance. May as well have kept Stastny or Stepan.
  20. To be clear, city residents in NC also pay county taxes. So, while Tepper will pony up some of the money, Charlotte will have to come up with the rest as Meck County will not raise property taxes in order to contribute. And, in my humble opinion, the residents shouldn't have to foot the bill for any of these stadium renovations, new construction or otherwise given how much money the NFL and individual teams are raking in every year.
  21. Canes have $3.3M in cap space and should still be looking for a forward who will add 30-45 points. The Pesce trade needs to happen and free up another $4M in cap space. The TDA deal, if there is one, is not yet applied. I'll throw a couple names out there who are not Tarasenko: Nick Ritchie and Tomas Tatar. Ritchie has had some good seasons, albeit he's probably a 30-point guy at best. But he's young, fairly inexpensive and a left-handed, LW. Tatar, on the other hand, is 32, but can play both sides of the ice as a lefty. He also averages over 40 points per season and will likely cost the Canes about $5M AAV. And, another thing I do like about both guys- they play with a lot of grit. Ritchie is 6-3 @ 230lbs.
  22. Well done. To be honest, I almost pulled the trigger on an Ethan Bear when he was here.
  23. Can he play on the wing? I mean, ffs, this team needs forward help. Half of the D is new guys and the Canes signed Bunting to replace Pool Party, Stastny, Stepan, etc. and Svech will be shelved until January?
  24. Thee are a few that can be worn in perpetuity and never be wrong: RBA, J. Staal, Weeks, Wesley, Justin Williams.
