  1. People here keep believing that like it's 100% truth, yet refuse to believe reports that the Panthers could love Young as well and keep claiming it's lying season which means the FO is trying to trick the Texans into trading up. Why can't both teams be lying, neither, or just the Texans? Oh right, that doesn't fit these fans' narrative and desires. Some of the people here need to lighten up and not sweat the things they can't control. Anyway, Hurndog is still in control of Mint Street, so Jack Campbell will be the #1 pick
  2. Honestly, most teams draft for need. The only time I can recall seeing a team maybe going BPA in round 1 in the NFL draft was when the Packers took Rodgers. The only time I can truly point to BPA being done was the 76ers in the NBA draft the three years they took a center.
  3. So now it's needs based instead of true BPA? If so, you're not going BPA. Going BPA is taking the best player regardless of what position he plays. That's why it's called Best Player Available instead of Best Player That Fits Needs.
  4. Robinson, the RB and Anderson, the DE, along with Young have been touted as the best players in the draft since last season by the majority of the talking heads and experts. Even after the combine, the top four QBs haven't been seen as the four best players in the draft.
  5. I disagree about the 1st pick. You don't give up what they did for anything other than a QB or perhaps a Peppers like DE. And there's no edge/DE like Peppers in this draft.
  6. I think Fitt trades 39 to get more picks. There's virtually zero chance they'll trade the first pick, so 39 is the best option to acquire more picks.
  7. Why can't the Texans' interest in Young be fake? I mean it's not like their FO might be pushing the Young narrative hard to get a team(say Indy since they're in the same division and need a QB too) to jump them for a QB they don't want and ensuring they get their guy while hurting another team in the process. People, not necessarily you, have taken it that the Texans' interest in Young is the 100% gospel truth but at the same time are quick to point out it's lying season when it comes to interest from the Panthers in players that those fans don't want. Anyway, all abroad the Ahlers 2023 train!
  8. No, it's not. The whole point of the draft is for teams to add young, cheap talent to their rosters. The whole point of the draft process is to decide who they want from the pool of players available at their picks. Now, do NFL officials and owners want excitement and uncertainty? Yep, because it makes them more money in ratings/sports betting.
  9. They should if the TE is the better player. TEs have succeeded for years as the number 1 receiving option in the NFL. That said, yeah, in desperation, they'll reach for a WR.
  10. There are runners, swimmers, divers, strongmen, gymnasts, and the like that compete in the that are better athletes than NFL players.
  11. I fully expect Fitt to trade back from 39 in an effort to add more picks unless there is someone there they feel they can't pass up on.
  12. I don't think Thomas or Tremble fit that kind of offense, but Tremble is cheap depth if nothing else.
  13. I hope not. It's a strong TE class, the Panthers need to be smart and take advantage of it.
  14. The Panthers do have a lot of needs. That's why trying to compete next year is sort of dumb especially if they start a rookie QB. They're changing schemes on both sides of the ball and will have to acquire players that fit what Reich and Co want to do. They can't do that in one offseason. Drafting the right TE(s) could help a lot. NE won a title or two mostly using TEs.
  15. I'd rather take one of the top 2-3 TEs if they're sitting there at 39 than the 4-10 ranked WR.
  16. Hopefully Thomas isn't safe. I'd keep Tremble as cheap depth since he's still on his rookie contract. The smart teams have been using TEs as premier reeving threats for years.
  17. The elite WR talent is in next year's draft if Harrison Jr comes out. The Panthers blew their load this year for a QB, so don't have a chance of drafting him. If one of the top 2-3 pass catching TEs are sitting there at 39, the Panthers better draft him instead another position.
  18. It does feel like that CB draft. Except for Icky last year in what was considered a top heavy tackle class, I can't recall when the Panthers really took advantage of a draft's strengths.
