Athletic projection for #33as of March 21
Hoenheim replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Please tell me the last great panthers WR drafted in R2. I'll wait.. I can however tell you about several bust WR we got Dwayne Jarret, Keary Colbert, Devin Funchess, Terrace Marshall Jr, Jonathan Mingo The only 2nd Round WRs drafted in Carolina Panthers history that ever amounted to anything were Musin Muhammad and Curtis Samuel. Let that sink in. A common trend among a lot of them is lack of explosiveness. If we do draft a WR I'd prefer a mother fuger like Worthy with rockets up his ass. -

It really seems like 99 percent of the panther fan base are hard stuck on McConkey or Legette and I don't like either of them at pick 33. I'd rather have either of the Texas WRs, a Center, or an edge rusher, before either of those two. -
It's just incredibly difficult to beleive he would actually drop to R2 and make it past all of those playoff caliber teams. But if he did he's the only player where there wouldn't be any debate on who we pick with 33. I actually did a mock yesterday where somehow he fell to us. I've done like 50 mocks this year and only this one it happened. Lol.

This is the first one I've ever done where JPJ fell to round 2.
-
I'm strongly against trading up into R1 unless it's for Jackson Powers Johnson. And even then I'm not willing to part with any 2025 picks, we're already down a R2 pick in 2025 from the trade up for Bryce last year. Just generally speaking when you're a shitty team you want to get more picks instead of giving them away. That's part of what screwed Fitterer he kept giving away picks till the very end and it put us in the meteor sized hole we're trying to climb out of right now.
-
They could do something like this if they really wanted to. It's going to dilute the talent pool alot though so you better hope Morgan is exponentially better at drafting mid-late round than Fitterer, Gettleman, or Hurney was.
-
Not bad. I personally love the idea of getting 2 WRs in R2 but I don't think it's realistic after we gutted the defense so bad and we have bunch of role players.

Unnecessary Bluntness: Do Panthers already have a draft crush?
Hoenheim replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
That's what I'm afraid of. The panthers seem to always pick the "wrong" WR in R2. -
If Bryce stinks in 2024 and they didn't bring in any other young qbs for real competition, that's how you would know they're still meddling
-
A lot of people here wanted Stroud when we initially made the trade but convinced themselves Bryce was the better pick when the media went on a month long jerk off session for Bryce and tried to tear CJ down. There's some people that stuck with CJ as their pick but a lot of people jumped ship when they saw the tide turning in Bryces favor. I got nailed for not believing in him when it got closer to the draft and became obvious we were picking him.
-
I was listening to a football podcast and the dude basically said most Rookie QBs get until Thanksgiving of year 2 to see if they're worth keeping. If Bryce doesn't show major improvement sometime in year 2 I'll be ready to move on. Even Canales has already said he has the benefit of not being emotionally attached to any of these players and I think that includes Bryce. Canales and Morgan are going to give him the best Oline and WR core they can muster, if Bryce falls on his face again it's open season at QB in 2025. I think though, if Canales QB whisperer trend continues, Bryce SHOULD improve to some degree. If he doesn't that more of an indictment on him and not Canales.

I could see them wanting an established vet DE and a bigger WR. I still really want Chase or Clowney. Preferably Clowney.
-
Congrats on him surviving multiple regimes. I can only imagine if Luke didn't retire he'd still be there as well. Well anyways, he might not be great but he's always been solid at least.
-
I did one where all I did was select the highest suggested pick from the Sim. It's not too bad imo.
-
I wouldn't blame them at all for double dipping WR in R2. We can focus on rebuilding defense next year. I think this would be a great draft. I'm almost convinced the Cheifs will get one of those Texas WRs right before our pick 33...
-
After most people here praising fitterer last year and before making trades and signings before seeing it play out on the field, I'm not going to say hes looking competent until I can see the results
-
Yep Matching most of the other defensive players they've picked up this week. Young player given a cheap 1 or 2 year deal. Smart I guess. They're clearly using the 2024 season as a trial run to see who they should keep and pay vs let go.
-
I'm curious how he's that damn skinny still being in the league for a few years already
-
Is DJ Wonnum depth or a starter?
-
I'm guessing they were asking for too much or playing the long game to see which team will give them the best deal
-
Very lightweight OLB with minimal sack production. But only 25 years old going into next season. Wonnum will be 26/27 next season. Definitely noticing a trend here. Although Wonnum has a lot more production 1 year 5 mil is peanuts. Basically a prove it deal maybe Evero can mold him into something idk.

You guys STILL don't know how to embed Twitter links????

I don't agree if it's a huge fall. Like 33 to 50 and 60 or something. Having 2 picks in top 40 is incredibly valuable you won't have the same options later in R2 or in R3
-
They arent permanent solutions. Both will be 27/28 when the season starts. So they will be relatively old by the time they're contracts are done. In 3-4 years. We also still need a permanent solution at center. We also struggled mightily with guard injuries in the past year+. I guess you could change Barton to whatever player you think would be best at Center. Ideally with the last 2nd rounder or the 3rd. Center is so important that I wouldn't mind getting it with our first pick. I wouldn't even be mad if they traded both 2nd round picks to get Jackson Powers Johnson who is widely regarded as the best Center prospect in the draft. Nobody thinks he'll drop to the 2nd round. But if he does he should be the pick imo.
