  1. I'm not surprised by this move and I hope Hardy goes to the AFC. The Panthers did what they had to do. I'm frustrated because honestly the fans got messed over and the Panthers wasted 13.1 million. I wish the front office would've just released Hardy if the intentions was not to bring him back. I hope Gettleman and his scouts have a plan with this type of move. Defensive end is definitely a priority now in free agency or the draft.
  2. I like Coleman and I think he could be a good fit in our scheme.I think we should look at a taller CB to play on the outside with Norman. Don't get me wrong, Bene had a impressive rookie season. I think he is just better suited in Nickel package due to his height and coverage ability. I don't think he has enough long speed to match up for the long term on the outside plus his height concerns me against those taller WR's.
  3. If Gurley doesn't let teams check out his knee then he still might be having some complications trying to recover. I'm not a doctor so I can't tell you what that means or when he will ever be healthy. I'm pulling for Gurley though because he is from my hometown. In the end, I wouldn't be upset if he falls into the second or third round and the Panthers have a shot at him.
  4. TJ Clemmings? He is raw and needs to work on his technique but he can develop in to a pretty good player with experience.
  5. Like I said if Peat or Collins is there one of them could be the pick. The big ? is Clemmings. We need to add more big ugly's to offensive line but i'm not so sure we can get a good prospect at 25.
  6. I can completely agree. If Peat, Collins, or Cleemings isn't on the board at 25, I definitely can see Gettleman passing up on a offensive tackle. What I really want to know is how he feels about TJ Clemmings. Some people just feels that he is just a raw prospect but his best football is ahead of him. He has the frame, the athleticism, and strength to be dominant. He really just needs to fix his technique but that comes with more experience. Is Clemmings worth the risk? The last tackle we got from Pittsburg didn't work out too well. I don't want to be disappointed again.
  7. In my opinion outside of Ereck Flowers. I don't see a offensive tackle that can come in and provide the immediate protection that Cam needs. The Panthers are really going to have to look at these offensive tackles and find out which one they really want if they go in that route. My guess right now is between Peat, Collins, and Clemmings. If either of these guys are on the board by the time we are on the clock things could get interesting.
  8. I've been watching a lot of tape and highlights of this year offensive tackle prospects. Everyone knows our biggest need is on the offensive line specifically at Left Tackle. There is some really good prospects coming out in this years draft class. To name few in no particular order I have 1. Ereck Flowers 6'5 322 Miami. In my opinion, I feel that Ereck Flowers is the most pro ready offensive tackle out of this years group. He is strong with long arms and has a big frame. He has the speed and athleticism to dance with defensive ends and he is mean in the running game. I think when the draft rolls around I believe he goes top 10. 2. Brandon Scherff 6'5 315 Iowa. Scherff is another prospect that I feel can come in and be a day 1 starter. The only knock I have with Scherff is that, I don't think he has enough athleticism to play left tackle in the NFL. If this is the case, Scherff will more then likely be better suited to move inside at guard and excelled at that position or potentially be a career right tackle. Scherff is a tough player. He tore his meniscus in the Ball State game and was back two weeks later and finished the season. I think he more then likely goes in the top 10 to 15 range in the draft. 3. Andrus Peat 6'6 312 Stanford. Peat is another tackle that has a huge frame and long arms. He needs to work on his pass protection but he is a load in the running game.He played well against Leonard Williams at USC and that has helped his stock. I don't think Peat is a day 1 starter, but i could see him starting his career at right tackle and potentially moving to left tackle later. 4. La'el Collins 6'5 315 LSU. Collins was a monster on that offensive line at LSU. He has a big frame and long arms and is dominating in the running game. Collins moves players around through hell and high water. He also needs to work on his pass protection as well like Peat. In time I think he can clean it up and be a good player. Nothing would be more tempting for him then to land in Carolina with former LSU teammate Trai Turner. Collins and Turner on the same team with chemistry from their LSU days could potentially be a dominant offensive line in Carolina. I don't think Collins will be around by the time Carolina is on the clock but if he is there, I can assure you he might just be the pick. I think he goes in the top 15 to 20 range. 5. TJ Clemmings 6'5 305 Pittsburg. There has been some talk that Clemmings have gotten first round grades that he didn't deserve this early. He went into the Senior Bowl with very high expectations and he struggled in some of the one on one drills. Mike Mayock believes that Clemmings is the best tackle in the draft and that's the reason he has him rank as the #1 OT right now. Clemmings has the body that you would want your left tackle to have. Clemmings is a former DE who has only played two years at right tackle. He is a very raw talent but with more experience he could be a Pro Bowl left tackle. Clemmings struggles in pass protection because he needs to refine his technique. The only way that's going to get better is with more experience. Clemmings is dominant in the running game as well and he plays with a mean streak. Clemmings reminds me of a more raw version of Tyrone Smith. Clemmings is more then likely to be around with Carolina picks. Does Carolina take a chance on one most rawest offensive tackle in this year draft class? A lot of scouts said Benjamin was a raw prospect as well and that work out fine in Carolina favor. Can Carolina strike lightning in a bottle twice? .
  9. I would love to have him. He might just be too much of a risk the front office is willing to take.
  10. Safety is definitely a need but the safety position is not very good at all in this year draft class. Like you stated in another thread Landon Collins is by far the best safety in the draft and some people will say he could be better suited to play OLB but the production and talent drops off after Collins. I look for Gettleman to bring in another safety via free agency because i expect Thomas Decoud to be cut and Roman Harper is Roman Harper, but you can't assume he will play at a high level next season. I know this name might surprise you or anyone who reads this post, but I actually wouldn't mind someone like Taylor Mays who will be a free agent March 10. Taylor Mays reminds me so much of Mike Mitchell he strong and fast as well as a heavy hitter. His coverage skills concerns me like Mitchell did but I think Steve Wilks can find away to improve that. If our DLine can regain back to 2013 form, Mays could be very good in the back end of our defense if the Panthers were to take that low risk high reward chance.
  11. I wish I could agree with you on this but I can't. I think CB is a need and we will either draft someone or bring someone in via free agency. I really like what Josh Norman did last year and when he got the chance to play he was nothing short of a shutdown CB. Bene was a steal to get in the draft, but i'm still not sure if he has the speed or the height to play on the outside especially in our division with those bigger and taller WR for long term. In my opinion, I believe Bene is best suited to play the slot and the Panthers should look to bring in a taller CB to play opposite of Josh Norman. I think the Panthers will look at guy in free agency like Chris Culliver who is from Garner, NC and could be one of those low risk high reward type of players. If not, I think there is some really good talent in this year draft at CB. If Quinten Rollins is there in second round, I would love to snag the former PG who had an outstanding season at CB out of Miami Ohio. Rollins stock could rise in this draft. He had a good senior bowl and is expected to put up some good numbers at the combine. I think he goes late 1 or 2 round in the draft.
  12. Roger Goodell wanted to save his own ass and that's why it won't be used for all pending charges against all players. The media was setting up to crucify Roger Goodell when the found out he saw or didn't see the video. He wanted to save face and make this situation go away. The NFL wasn't thinking about Greg Hardy until the Ray Rice incident happen.
  13. I'm sure it will be owed to Ron Rivera and I don't think Dave Gettleman would be upset with giving him a one year deal. This also gives Ealy more time to develop and play a little more with a shot at taking CJ spot in the future. If we can get Hardy on a 1 yr prove it deal then let's see how it goes. I wouldn't be upset because you don't find pass rushers like Hardy everyday.
  14. I'll hit that ass though. Hardy isn't too stupid lol.
  15. I'm becoming fine with this move. My only issue is where does the pass rush come from now? CJ has to stay healthy and the panthers will have to find someone to complement him in free agency or the draft. I like Kony Ealy and he played well the latter part of the season. But you can't bet on him that he will have a consistent pass rush next season.
  16. They better, because you don't just let elite pass rushers go. Gettleman has a planned up his sleeves and I wouldn't be surprised at all if we go DE in the first round.
  17. Completely agree. The only question I have is who are they going to replace him with?
  18. You hope and pray that it works out like that. Defensive ends take time to develop. This makes our defensive line young with Hardy now gone. Any injury to CJ who do you look to get pressure from?
  19. I wouldn't mind the pick at all. I think he would fit on our team pretty well and it's definitely a need in my opinion.
