Based on the evidence and what was presented in court I don't think they believed anyone in their right mind, activist or not, would have found him guilty

The way that I understand it, her legal team doesn't even know if there was a settlement. No one has talked to her. They are trying to save face

Keep in mind the state is claiming there was a settlement. They are the ones with egg on their face. No knows for sure if there was a settlement at all. She may have just bounced out of town because she was about to look foolish
