Just bored waiting for the game to start. Been watching DWill highlight vids all day and just got me curious as to how his numbers look compared to others. I realize numbers don't mean much, its WHEN the big plays happen that matter. I'd rather have DWill gain 2 yards on 3rd and 1 then 19 yards on a 3rd and 20 draw play. But again these are just for something to look at.

Average rushes needed per score:

Peterson.......27.3

LT...............21.1

DWill............23.3

Average receptions needed per score:

Peterson.......40

LT...............34

DWill............19.5

Average total touches needed per score:

Peterson.......27.9

LT................22.4

DWill.............22.8

Averages touches per fumble:

Peterson......49

LT..............137

DWill...........308

The fumble stat is my favorite one to think about. Every time DWill fumbles once, AD has fumbled 6 times already.

Using these stats plus there career averages, a typical 300 rush season would come out to these averages:

Name......Rushes......YRDS......AVR......TotalTDS......Fumbles

Peterson......300.......1530......5.1.......11............6

LT................300........1320......4.4.......14...........2

DWill...........300........1500......5.0.......13...........0

Actually what got me thinking about it was checking stats to see how close LT was to the rushing touchdown record. I slipped into my football zone then snapped back to reality 15 min later with my calculator out nd all these detailed numbers on scrap paper. Had to see where our boy DWill stands with with the best RBs out there

great stat.....i think AP is over rated.yes the guy is a physical specimen, but he fumbles way to much.i would rather have a back who would hold on to the ball.

Same here. I was curious if the NFL had a stat that took away the rushing yards on a given drive if there was a lost fumble, somethign like a Net Rushing Yard stat. I say that because I would love to see how many rushing yards AD would have had if all the yards he had gained for nothing on a drive in which he fumbled were taken away.

If he fixes his fumbling problems (much like Tiki Barber did) he will be dominant. But until then, I consider DWill much more valuable.

    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
    • I don't think Canales has any problem benching Bryce or moving on if Bryce doesn't come out playing like the end of last year.  It's year 3 no more excuses for Bryce
    • Yea Bryce was definitely a top half qb the second half of last season but I'm not sure Canales is 100% sold on him.  Like I've said in another post I think that's part of why we talked to so many South Carolina players in the draft process.  I think they are doing early due diligence on Sellers just in case.
