This weekend is a historic week for good football. There are FOUR games in which both teams have a .667 average or above. This hasn't happened after Week 4 in at least eight years.

Lions (7-2, #1 in North)

at

Cardinals (8-1, #1 in West)

interesting storyline: Cardinal QB Drew Stanton was Lion QB Matt Stafford's backup for three years. Stanton was born and raised in Michigan, went to college in Michigan, and presumably grew up a Lions fan. The Lions drafted Stanton 2nd round (43rd overall) but then got the #1 overall pick after going 0-16 and were able to get Matt Stafford

Browns (6-3) are favored by 3 at home vs the Texans (4-5). With the debut of Ryan Mallett, the game will feature two ex-Tom Brady backups at QB in Hoyer and Mallett. All three (Brady, Hoyer, Mallett) were on the Patriots in 2011. Hoyer said Mallett has the "strongest arm I've ever seen, and I really do mean that." For more on Mallett's arm, here is a piece Business Insider did titled "The Houston Texans' New Quarterback Has An Insane Throwing Arm"

Ryan Mallett's debut: no sacks, 20 of 30 (66.7%) for 211 yds, 2 TD (1 to JJ Watt), 1 INT, 95.3 rating

He threw for HOU's only 2 TDs (HOU also had three FGs)

CBS Sports Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora 3h

Hard not to be impressed by Ryan Mallett 's debut. He's been

darn good and Arian Foster should be back next week

former Dallas Cowboys QB Clint Stoerner @ClintStoerner 2h

Congrats to @Ryan_mallett_15 on a great 1st start .. Big win

in today's biggest stunner, Rams beat Broncos down 22-7. Broncos were favored by 9, the second-biggest favorite this week after SD by 10 over OAK

That was first time in Shaun Hill 's 13 NFL seasons that he faced Peyton Manning as a starter...and Hill vastly outplayed Manning:

Peyton Manning: 75.3 QB rating, 1 TD, 2 INTs, 7.2 yards/att, 63.0% comp pct

Shaun Hill: 102.7 QB rating, 1 TD, 0 INTs, 7.6 yards/att, 69.0% comp pct

    • take a  look around the league at other young Qb's such as Drake Maye , Jayden Daniels, Bo Nix , CJ Stroud  & Caleb Williams who at the time like Bryce Young they also were drafted by teams with a losing record .the only difference with these Qb's is after joining their teams with a losing record they led those same teams to a winning record in a very short period of time .it's simply what you call a game changer & or elite Qb's & then take a  look at  the other side of the coin you have Qb's such as Trey Lance, Zach Wilson, Mac Jones, Justin Fields  & Anthony Richardson also like Bryce Young all first round picks who instead of winning either did not play or led their teams to a losing record while playing  Bryce Young who has an overall record of 14-30 & wildly inconsistent & never in the history of the NFL has a Qb 5'10" or shorter had a successful carrer as Qb in the NFL  if anything history is telling you exactly what ?..just saying
    • The only answer
    • to me these two signings were so bad for the Panthers at the time of our young team. "Sean Gilbert was signed by the Carolina Panthers on April 21, 1998, after being traded from the Washington Redskins in a deal that sent the Panthers two first-round picks (Nos. 5 and 12) to Washington. The Panthers then re-signed Gilbert to a 7-year, $46.5 million contract extension on the same date"  The other was Jason Peters being picked in the First round of the 1998 draft. "Peter played for the Panthers from 1998 to 2001, appearing in 38 games (starting 20) and recording 88 total tackles, 7.5 sacks, and 1 fumble recovery His NFL career was cut short by a chronic neck stinger, forcing him to retire after the 2001 season
