Woodworking

Recommended Posts

Have been thinking of taking up a hobby especially since the offseason will be here in about a month or so.  I have always been fascinated by people who can make things out of wood and I want to give it shot.  I'd like to learn how to make all sorts of things like tables, chairs, etc. but the one aspect of woodworking I am really interested is scroll work. Do any of you have any experience with this type of thing?  I obviously know that you need a scroll saw but how hard is it?  Is it fun or do you feel like killing yourself after awhile?

Same old Hawk

I'm into woodworking some, and hoping to get more into it.  I don't want to do scroll work though.  I'm not into things that are that level of detail.  I got some new tools for Christmas, and have already knocked out a couple of things.  I put together a mobile mitre saw stand based off this one.  I did a couple more small things to help clean up my garage.  I've got some larger things planned like a pergola over my patio come spring.  Once its done I will do some planter boxes to match, and maybe some adirondack style patio furniture.

    • Does this mean only topics from within the last year or any topics with posts from the last year? i.e. if there are any old threads we feel should be kept around for whatever reasons, would a bump of that thread before the update ensure it's kept around in full or do the posts from more than a year old still disappear?
    • I'm more intrigued at him becoming our future LG. There were some people who thought he was better suited to be a guard in the NFL to begin with.  Then if Freeling ends up being a legit LT, moving Ickey to LG could give us an incredibly strong left side of our OL for years to come. Ickey has only played on the Left side his whole career, both in college and the NFL, so I just wonder if keeping him on the left side, even if shifting inside, would be better than putting him outside on the right side. Just hoping him growing up a Panthers fan will make him want to stay here and move positions than enter FA so he can stay at LT somewhere else, particularly since LT is the big money position on the OL, so he likely can get paid more by someone else to play LT than play LG or RT here for us.
