Keys for the Panthers to win on Sunday

I see what you're saying, I'm just of the mindset that it's always better to defer if you win the coin toss. We should maybe focus more on making adjustments at halftime rather than not deferring. I hate Belichick but damned if he isn't the best coach in the history of the league (and would be even without the cheating, tragic genius) and I've never seen him not defer if he wins the coin toss.

If you think you can shut them down, yeah. It is a solid tactic. Just saying that it seems like the defense has been taking a few drives to tighten up lately. Both saints games and the last atlanta game come to mind. Why not try to get the early lead so it's their offense that has to press instead of ours for once. This is assuming that the panthers O can actually do anything

Are you nuts?  Definitely defer (especially given our current wr's)...  you might notice that the greatest coach of all-time always defers.  That's Bellichick.

Like i said before, it has worked against us in both earlier games. So lets just keep doing the same thing, right?

Yes.  You still do the smart thing and defer.

Imagine we don't defer... we might go three and out - give the Saints better field position than if we had kicked off.... and then they get the 2nd half kickoff.

Come on bud

we scored on both opening possessions the 2 games. only thing is it was after they had scored 1st.

if you want this poo show offense playing from behind then more power to you i guess.

also, your exact scenario has occurred with both of carolinas opening second half possessions. three and out and give the saints the ball back, so whats the point?

try to score 1st,  or keep doing the same things that ended up losing games. hummm...

Even if that scenario happened again, it would be a tie game, and we would get the ball in the 2nd half, vs the Saints getting the ball.

You always defer, unless you have the greatest show on turf, and often even then, you still defer.

I say do what seems the best for a certain situation. this offense playing from behind is not the best situation.

anyway, I hope they lose the toss so the saints end up deferring anyway lol

also, y'alls idol Bilichick has this to say...

"All the factors that you would think would go into it, go into it," Patriots coach Bill Belichick said. "Sometimes we withhold that decision until we actually see what the field conditions are for that particular game, like Thursday night [against Miami], a game like that. Obviously if you’re playing in a dome in Indianapolis, we don’t need to get that information. But games that are weather games, that could affect that decision, too. How you want to start the game, what your offensive or defensive game plan is -- here’s how we want to try to start the game -- maybe that affects it. There could be a lot of factors, so we try to consider them all and do what we think is best."

    • McConkey is such a better player than XL that it isn't out of the question that he'd have improved us by 1 win last year, which would have dropped us to 10th or 11th in the draft.  If we fell to 11th behind SF, they probably take him as they were heavily rumored to want him.  2 more wins and we fall to 11th or 12th, if we are 12th behind both the 49ers and Cowboys, then he's 100% taken by one of them. Also, drafting McConkey wouldn't have stopped us from getting Coker as an UDFA. So even if he was on the board when we were on the clock, I'm not sure we're taking him over a defensive player given how bad the defense was last year.  Part of why he was always the pick for me was that we had no legitimate long term WR option at the time, having McConkey changes that and makes going defense much more feasible.
    • Or a statue of him in a golf cart and you can sit next to him
    • I've said many times that if I had known in high school that long snapper was an NFL position I would have practiced that every day and did all could to get that contract. Sure the money is not starting QB level, but it is life changing and if you manage it right you and your kids will be set for life. Not to mention you have access to the highest level of medical staff. Plus, by rule, they can't hit you.
