Best fan base in the NFL

I don't visit this site too often but after today's amazing kick I came to see the reaction.

Well, I suppose that there should be so little surprise that the initial and loudest voices are those calling for "Fire Rivera!". Anybody who visits this site at all will quickly come to the conclusion that there are roughly 17 NFL fan bases in a normal week that call for the firing of their Head Coach - The 16 losing teams and the hysterical fanatics on this site after another Panthers win!

From the outside, my own view is that Rivera has done an amazing job in his years in Carolina despite beginning his tenure with arguably the worst team in the NFL in a small market, a laughably inexperienced GM fiasco with Gettleman that left questionable holes throughout the roster, an Ownership scandal which led to a change, a relative strong division with the Saints and Falcons, and, quite frankly, an NFL QB in Newton who is a physical specimen but will never be even an average-level NFL QB in terms of accuracy.

To summarize, in only his 8th year as a Head Coach - Rivera has taken a 2-14 franchise to consistent Division championships and playoffs, a Super Bowl, won 2 Coach of the Yrs all while the franchise has now had 3 GM regimes and 2 Ownership regimes in that short span. Rivera is doing miracle work.

Achieving consistently elite success in the modern NFL game is dependent upon having strong defenses that have accurate QBs that are able to convert 3rd downs for offenses that can run the ball between the tackles well. Cam would be a difficult QB for any Hall of Fame coach to figure how to utilize, imo, because his strength - which is to effectively run as a FB and/or create on broken plays - is not a reliable way to game plan for the modern NFL game.

Anyway, Carolina wins under Rivera and have been one of the best performing teams Against The Spread under his watch which reflects on how his teams performed relative to realistic expectations - those that actually place money on the games. For all that are afflicted by this nonsensical hatred for Rivera - I would suggest placing money bets against his teams and you will quickly learn that Rivera is a damn tough out.

Only 3 NFL teams have better records than the Panthers as of this moment in a league that has more parity than any major sports league in the world - no reasonable person with active brain cells should be calling for Rivera to be fired. For his own sake, I actually believe that Rivera would actually benefit if that ludicrous situation arose as he would be snatched up immediately by any number of Owners in much larger and stable markets...San Diego, Dallas and Seattle come to mind quickly...

Anyway, enjoy the win...what a kick.
