Why We Should Trade For a Player We Know Won't Resign With Us After This Season

I've heard a few people comment that it'd be a dumb idea to lose players and get a player who only will finish out the season with us then go elsewhere. I disagree with this argument.

The Bobcats will very likely make the playoffs for the first time in team history this season. I feel that this success is going to really help the team grow in Charlotte and across parts of the Carolinas. The Bobcats are well coached and have three players playing at an extremely high level (Jackson, Wallace, Felton). They are missing a piece or two that would propel them into being serious contenders in the East, imo.

There are multiple players who are all stars and on the final year of their contract. Fortunately for us, a lot of these players are power forwards, what I feel is the Bobcats' weakest link. Chris Bosh, Amare Stoudemire and Carlos Boozer are all in the final years of their contracts and it appears none of them want to resign with their teams. The Bobcats should, imo, be willing to trade anyone outside of the big 3 i mentioned for one of these players.

Even if they left after the postseason, I think it'd be great for the franchise due to the popularity and success we'd garner from it.

    • This is what I mean. I am not some huge BY fan. I honestly don't look at QBs the way a lot of you guys do. Right or wrong, I've always looked at them as just another cog in the machine. Didn't want BY or even a trade up for a QB in 2023. We saw in the Super Bowl how important the rest of the team is on any given Sunday. Now... so PFF, who has no reason to prop up BY, says he's first in 2 stat lines and Panthers "fans" are arguing why it's either wrong or a made up stat just to make BY look good. Even though they have multiple stat lines where he's literally last in. Like 32nd in the NFL. Some he's even lower than 32. Take a step back. Try to objectively self analyze. This is just not sensible.  Same thing I see with other teams' fans and their QBs though. We analyze every single throw on every single play. For every other QB, most here are only using highlights to judge. Makes a difference. We saw Stafford miss throws when they played Carolina - both games. We saw Love throw crap up when they played Carolina. We saw Dak miss throws when they played Carolina - and Pickens was putting on a SHOW. We saw Josh Allen win a game with 163 yards passing against Carolina, but if BY does it he's crap and can't pass for 200 yards. Gents... come on.
    • None of us think we're contenders this season but no reason we're doomed to 5 or 6 wins either. Dan has to have another 2025- like draft class and at least 2 key free agent signings. We're not Seattle but they don't win without 5 starters from their last 2 draft classes and Darnold and Lawrence in free agency.  Alas,  we'll have to wait one more season for a QB upgrade.
    • I've got nothing else to say really than: Ayup. Here we are again. Again.  All we can really hope for is progress. If we improve as much again, it'll be good. If we don't, it'll be foretold.
