Game 48: Bobcats@Lakers

The Mighty Bobcats will travel to the Staples Center tonight to face the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers. Going up against the Lakers always seems to bring out the best in the Bobcats and Im expecting no different tonight. The Bobs are not afraid of the bright lights & stars of Hollywood and have played well in their last few visits to Staples. The Lakers are led by Kobe Bryant, future HOF 2 guard who just passed Jerry West as the Lakers all time leading scorer. The Lakers big men, Gasol, Bynum, & Odom can be a force in the paint, so if we dont get a big game from our frontcourt, we have no chance tonight. After getting beaten soundly by the Blazers 2 nights ago, I want to see us bounce back and play one of the NBA's elite as tough as we can on their home floor. GO BOBCATS!!!

I have been looking forward to this one all season. We have owned the Lakers in the last 3 or 4 years but the matchups were always in our favor. Raja could give Kobe fits and I am interested to see how Jax will do in this system against him. Artest has been problematic for us every time we play him so Gerald will need all of that intensity.

The Gasol/Bynum tandem will be hard to guard against too without a premiere 5 defender. Boris needs to stay out of foul trouble or else their big lineup could pose problems. It would be awesome if Tyson could play tonight! Go Cats!

    • Kalkbrenner and Sion James received regular contracts and not two ways, so the Hornets have some work to do to cut the roster size down.
    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
