I'm not sure the East could be any tighter..

Have any of you guys been keeping up with the Conference Standings at all? I know they don't mean a whole lot right now, but it's so tight that there's only two near-certainties.

1. Boston makes the playoffs.

2. NY Islanders miss the playoffs.

I know it probably won't end up this way, but right now we're in 8th in the East..the last playoff spot. We've been moving around a little bit, but here's my question. Do you think it's likely that the Southeast Division will have two playoff teams? Washington is playing so well right now, they are going to be near impossible to catch, barring some kind of collapse. Florida is right on our ass, just one point behind. I'm just afraid that when/if the Penguins get out of this funk they're in, that we're going to get pushed out.

Thoughts?

Yeah I'm a huge hockey fan since I live in Raleigh have a ticket package, played hockey etc. and I keep up with standings. The Southeast, you heard it here first, will at least have two playoff teams but will have a third that sneaks in, the Panthers.

Unless we go on a run and someone the craptials start blowing there is really no shot we get the SE. I just want the 4th playoff spot for home ice advantage really.

BTW offtopic, I was in charlotte tailgating, etc. yesterday and was wondering how the game vs boston was. I know we got whipped but how did we play who played well etc.

They played like utter crap, it was humiliating to watch

I wasn't able to watch the game, but it had to have been terrible. I have my phone set to send me a text everytime there is a score in a Hurricanes game.

I was in the middle of a pretty serious phone conversation, and the text alerts were driving me insane, because they seemed to come through every two minutes.

    • Sure, but if that happens, the draft pick will look even worse for the Falcons, as instead of getting them a player that could win now, they took someone who ran off their prize FA QB after 3 years and now looks like they may be a bust. Penix was one of the more polished QB's in the draft and would have probably been a rookie starter if taken by someone with an uncertain starting QB, if he's not ready to step in and play well in year 3, then it's probably not going to work out.
