2012 DNC Conference

Anyone see the local news tonight?

Charlotte and Minneapolis are in the running for the 2012 DNC Presidential Conference. They showed the DNC committee visiting Minneapolis today. They were walking into the convention center with a huge sign that read:

"Minnesota, America's Firsts Line of Defense."

What? Against who? Those crazy Canucks? If Canada is going to invade the US,

there are more people across the river from Detriot (Would we really care if they invaded Detriot?) or even more Canadians live across the border from New York state.

I lived in Minnesota for 5 & 1/2 years, right before I moved to Charlotte. About the only thing coming across the Minnesota/Canada border was a coyote or 2.

I can see those crazy Canucks now. "Give us all your beer and no one gets hurt. Eh!"

Yeah I guess they're thinking back to the cold war days. Maybe we have a lot of B-52's and ICBM's over there.

I really hope Charlotte gets it. Mo' Money is always a good thing. Since I live in the Suburbs I don't have to deal with the horrible traffic, long lines at your favorite eatery, and all the yahoos asking for directions.

I always get nervous about the President coming to town though. I keep thinking about the Sum of All Fears.

I'm not sure that's a good thing to have a prominent Africa-American leader come to the South either. It didn't work out too good for Rev King Jr in 1968! Hopefully the South has progresed since then. But Charlotte always appreciates having 1000's of partying drunks come to town. They get it twice a year for the 600 & the Fall 500!

    • I still think another QB is brought in Day 3. Grier is camp body level at this point.
    • We’re in a pickle. My best hope is we protect him and can run the ball vs most Ds and the WRs are healthy so he has every chance to not look like what he looked like in too many games last year.
    • I'm really not stressing about upgrading from Bryce. I'm frustrated with our inability (or refusal) to recognize overall bad QB performance and failure to seriously address the issue. QB is the most impactful position on the field, and we're not only settling for what we've been given to this point, but we've rewarded it with a fully guaranteed 5th year extension for a player that's never played 2 NFL franchise QB quality games back to back in 3 seasons. I can't understand how that's ok from a coach's or GM's viewpoint. Successful franchises don't do things like this. It just doesn't make sense.  We do not have a top half of the league QB right now. Since we don't have that player, we should be looking for him. Pickett isn't it. Grier isn't it. Bryce hasn't proven he is yet. Until you have that sure fire franchise QB, you keep looking. You're not consistently making the playoffs, a deep run, or a SB appearance without one.  What's the worst that could happen? We end up with 2 potential number 1 QBs? How horrible.
