Those are the good free agents I found for the end of the season. Who do you want to get? who do you think we could get? Please dont act like a falcon fan and say we can get alexander, brees and ect, be realistic.

aka Peerless Price...or so some people are saying....not my personal opinion...

Reggie Wayne ..a..........Peerless Price? You really think so c0r? He's outperformed Marvin Harrison in many games. I have both of them in my fantasy football keepers league. But I agree with Nance that there probably isn't a chance in hell we'll get him. Besides, your salary cap guru has probably already found a way to work in Wayne, Edge, Peterson, and Brees as a backup into the eagle's roster next year. lol

I think Reggie has a good chance of being a Peerless Price product.... Hell, Peerless blew the doors off Eric Moulds for a season or 2.... both are WRs that can flourish, I think, when they have a great WR on the other end of the line from them drawing the double coverage

reggie wayne >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> peerless "i hate y'all" price.

IMO any Indy players would have much too high a price tag on them to warrant even thinking about them. That ring they will most likely be getting adds mega$$ to their last names. Forget about 'em all. I do think that we can get some really decent help for our lines from those guys. Tom Ashworth would be good to have.

i posted n another thread about a few of my Oline hopefuls from the FA list.

Here is my O-Line wish list for the offseason.

As far as guards are concerned...get rid of reyes, just not impressed like i thought i would.

The man we need to pick up in the off season will be a UFA in 2006....

Sean Mahan

Position: G

Height: 6-3

Weight: 301

Birthdate: 5/28/1980

Experience: 3

College: Notre Dame

Currently with Tampa Bay

Thing i like about this guy is that he has a decent amount of experience @ center and can go back and forth from guard to center with little effort. as we are seeing less of mitchell (juice free) who's days with us are numbered and we have the pretty much untested commodity that is Hartgardner, Mahan will be able to be a big utility player filling in gaps where needed.

http://www.buccaneers.com/team/playerdetail.aspx?player=Mahan,Sean,79

an option to pick up would be this guy who will also be a UFA after this year...

Vince Manuwai

currently w/ Jaxville

Position: G

Height: 6-2

Weight: 312

Born: 07/12/1980

College: Hawaii

NFL Experience: 3 years

http://www.jaguars.com/Team/Bio/FullBio/2428.asp

This guy would be really solid to have as well. He is really good about opening up holes and has a great record of protecting the QB against sacks.

The man we need to draft...

Max Jean-Gilles

Position: G

Height: 6-3

Weight: 338

College: Georgia

http://www.draftdatabase.com/z_BIO_OL_Gilles_Georgia.htm

I like this guy a lot, he will likely be drafted high (for an offensive lineman) and if we aren't going to grab lendale white, like we should, we need to grab this guy. He is huge...pushing 340 and knows how to leverage his mass incredibly well. He is a bulldog who won't let go of a defender once he gets hold of him and will use his power to manhandle the defender. He is a puppet master with defenders. He is also really explosive off the line, esp considering his size. He has a lot of experience with both OG and OT but i think he needs to be OG at the pro level.

now concerning OT

1st on my wish list is...

Jeff Backus

UFA in 2006 currently w/ Lions

Position: LT

Height: 6-5

Weight: 305

Born: September 21, 1977

College: Michigan

NFL Experience: 5 years

http://www.detroitlions.com/bio.cfm?bio_id=6&season=7

I believe this uy is the best free agent tackle that will be out there next year. He is a workhorse who has started every game since he was drafted. Lions should have pushed to keep him but i think he's too good for that team and deserves to play with a non-dysfunctional team such as ours. There will likely be a lot of competition for this guy.

2nd UFA tackle on my wish list...

Tom Ashworth

UFA in 2006 currently w/ the Pats

Position: LT or RT

Height: 6-6

Weight: 305

Born: 10/10/1977

College: Colorado

NFL Experience: 4 years

http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=121&p=8&c=1&nid=1835093&refid=1

This guy has improved a lot during the past couple years and does a really good job at either side. not exactly a dominator but he gets the job done. one of the best work ethics in the position that i know of. I see him doing nothing but improving over the years.

the guy we need to draft....

Tre' Stallings

Position: LT

Height: 6-4

Weight: 318

College: Ole Miss

http://www.draftdatabase.com/z_BIO_OL_Stallins_Mississippi.htm

He's no D'Brickshaw, but he is my sleeper pick at OT. He will end up being one of the most dependable players in the class. I have a feeling that NYG will be vying for him since he protected Eli through college. I just have a good feeeling about him and doubt we would be disappointed in his performances.

I don't think so. I wanted Wayne back when he was drafted and we got FredEx. But yeah, the Eagles could sign Wayne if they want to...I don't know if they will. Eric Moulds will be a FA too....I don't know if they'd sign him either...I'd love to see Peterson in an Eagles uniform next year...LOVE it.

    • It all sounds great. The only unknowns are injuries and how they will need to be addressed. Horn has a history as does the newly added Jaelen Phillips and Cooker has yet to play an entire season as well. And then there are the Ikey's - totally unexpecteded injuries that put a major wrench in your plans. I do think its a great plan though.
    • If we pay Bryce like a franchise QB we're completely and utterly buttfuged.
    • In my view, the realistic expectation for this team to compete will start 2027.  At that time, I think we could be looking at the following (this is HIGHLY speculative):   QB:  You know, Bryce.  I am not a fan, but they don't ask me.  But there is reason for hope--and here it is.  Bryce will be entering his prime.  Since we are likely to pay him, there will be changes that I include throughout this exercise--I realistically speculate on what they are going to do with Bryce and then I realistically speculate on what means in terms of the cap and other positions. Bryce HAS IMPROVED.  The idea is that if you give him more weapons and protection, that will continue.  His career:   At this rate, if his growth continues, by 2027 we should expect nearly 30 TDs and about 12 Interceptions and a Rating of about 98.  His completion percentage should settle at 65-66% or so.  If that happens, you can win with it. The following stats demonstrate how the Panthers will be able to afford it (and re-sign Ickey) My guess is they will require about $60m per year. This is why rookies who can play are important.  It also helps us see the blueprint.  You may disagree, but this is the cruel realities of the salary cap. Robert Hunt:  Cut post June 1 and save $19m.  Who do you replace him with?  Ickey. Tershawn Wharton:  Cutting him saves nearly $15m.  We should all hope to see Aaron Hall (UDFA) make the roster and play well.  Regardless, this is a position we would likely have to address in the next draft. Trevin Moehrig:  Cutting Moehrig as the starting SS saves this team $16.5m.   Ransom will be on year 3 of a cheap rookie deal and should be more than ready to take the reins.  their styles are similar.  Furthermore, FS Wheatley (R, 4th round) will be starting. Taylor Moton:  So much depends on his knee, but I have an idea that he can play another 3 years.  extending him could save the team about $5m per year.  Cutting him outright would save the team about $21m. In the most drastic situation, we have to cut Moton and the other three players mentioned.   We would need (in all likelihood) a starting DT and RT.  It is possible that the DE would be addressed, but Wharton's production (so far) could be equaled by a rookie.  Look for a cut free agent and a 2027 draft pick here.  If you cut Moton, you save $21m, and that would be the only big hole to fill.  Having Ickey at RG gives you some depth at T, and Ickey could be the guy.  T could be pick in the 2027 draft (first round), fwiw.  It saves you $21m while costing you $5m, for example. We get younger, creating a core of Freeling, Hecht, and the RT first rounder in 2027) along with Ekownu (second contract in the $15m range, and Lewis, whose contract would be in the $16m range if not extended.)  The OL cuts (Hunt, Moton) would save $40m.  The OL would get younger and still solid with veterans at G.   By cutting Wharton (no brainer if his play stays the same) and Moehrig (good player--but we have Ransom on a rookie contract who would not be that much of a drop off--if any) in addition to Hunt and Moton, we would save over $70m in cap room. We would be able to give Bryce bag  and we would have enough to re-sign Ickey (if the knee is not too risky) to a Guard contract (probably at a discount, coming off that injury).  Furthermore, we could add a RT in the draft (or a RG if Ickey moves to RT) and that would be the only large hole to fill. Correct my logic if you see issues-- On defense, in addition to the aforementioned, Scott ($2m contract) is out, replaced by a 4th round rookie contract. CB Jackson's contract ($7.8m) expires and he is (possibly) replaced by a rookie contract.  At Edge, patrick Jones II's $10m contract expires and he is likely a reserve, and his role is absorbed by Phillips, Scourton, Princely, and possible an UDFA like Isaiah Smith or a 2027 draft pick.   These productive developmental players over the past 2 drafts will pay huge dividends.  On paper, I see the team getting much younger and possibly better while cutting nearly $100m and reallocating that money to get more production.
