WACO, TX—Richard Khamir Hurd, 25, of Waco, pleaded guilty today to federal charges in connection with an attempt to extort money from Robert Griffin, III, the current quarterback for the NFL’s Washington Redskins, announced U.S. Attorney Robert Pitman and FBI San Antonio Division Special Agent in Charge Armando Fernandez.

Appearing before U.S. District Judge Walter S. Smith, Hurd pleaded guilty to an information charging him with interstate communication of a threat to injure the property or reputation of another person and receiving the proceeds of extortion.

By pleading guilty, Hurd admitted that between June 14, 2012 and June 22, 2012, he contacted one of Griffin’s agents initially demanding $1 million or else he would release information to the media which he claimed would severely damage Griffin’s reputation. According to court documents, during negotiations with Griffin’s agent conducted at the direction of the FBI, Hurd agreed to accept a lesser sum of $120,000 in exchange for the information and signing a “non-disclosure” agreement. On June 22, 2012, Hurd appeared in a Waco law office where he signed the “non-disclosure” agreement and collected a check for $120,000. Afterwards, FBI agents arrested Hurd.

I wonder what kind of information he had. Another article stated that Richard Khamir Hurd was a player for the Baylor basketball team while RG3 was attending.

    • I think where they would be picked if redrafted before both classes have played enough football to really tell.  Baker literally looked like a washout with us after Cleveland gave up on him, then turned world beater with the Rams, got a prove it deal with the Bucs and has looked awesome ever since. Asking where Ward would’ve went had he went in ‘24 is just stupid.  I’m no GM, but I wouldn’t have taken Williams #1 either.  I would’ve taken Joe Milton way higher than he went.  I think Shadeur should’ve been a first round pick this year.  Point being, opinions are like buttholes, everybody has one.  It’s my opinion that Ward has that “something special.”  I get that feeling that he’ll be an even better pro than he was a collegiate QB because of whatever that quality is.  I think he’s gonna surprise a lot of people, especially being such an under appreciated first overall pick.
    • Where do we get our T-shirts and hats? Pretty sure this is the first championship ever in professional basketball or football in Charlotte!
    • Nice turnaround for Kon.  I’m still a little worried about his ability to create for himself and others, but it was SL.  Come regular season, he will playing a much different role and shots will be there for him.  He showed some reason for hope - and not just him, but the whole squad.  I suppose for the first time ever, we have drafted and acquired enough young talent that we actually not only competed for once, but won the whole thing in summer league.     Kon, Simpson, and Sims made all the difference.  Almost every year prior I felt we always struggled because we usually didn’t have a floor general/real PG to get us into offense.  This was such a breath of fresh air.  And look at us!  We finally are champions!😂
