ZackAttack23's 2013 Panthers Mock Draft 2.0

Round 1: Luke Joeckel OT Texas A&M 6-6 310 Lbs.

It's obvious we need O-line help. Jordan Gross is still very good, but he is losing a step and at some point needs to be replaced. By selecting Luke with this pick we will be just about set at OL.

Round 2: Matt Elam S Florida 5-10 206 Lbs.

We really need an aggressive safety out on the field. Nakamura ain't cutting it.

Round 4: Sheldon Richardson DT Missouri 6-3 290 Lbs.

We need a young DT to learn behind Dwan and Ron other than Sione and Nate.

Round 5: Terry Hawthorne CB Illinois 6-0 190 Lbs.

Gamble might or might not come back, Munnerlyn is a nickleback. So to draft Hawthorne is a great value.

Round 6: C.J. Fiedorowicz TE Iowa 6-6 265 Lbs.

Nice option to have opposite Olsen. He's only a Junior, but hopefully he comes out.

Round 7: Cobi Hamilton WR Arkansas 6-3 209 Lbs.

WR with nice size and great value in the 7th.

Love Joeckel and Elam. Really think WR is a much bigger need than a seventh round pick though....

WR is a position of need that needs to be addressed correct, but we also have other needs. At the spots we're drafting, the BPA's out way the needs. Hamilton is good though. Anyway it's early so mock drafts will continue to change based on performances.

Really? Whys that? I'm sure a couple guys will emerge in time for the combine. Tony Jefferson is another interesting prospect.

He's really stiff in the hips for starters. He has trouble with changing directions which isn't good when you're talking about coverage safeties. He's also been left looking lost in coverage on numerous occasions this season, and doesn't attack the ball as well as you like for a prototype FS. That's not to say he's not a good player. He's light years ahead of what we have at FS now, or what we would get from Godfrey. From what I've seen though, he would make a much better in the box strong safety. He's a great tackler, and loves initiating contact. He has the tools to be a better coverage guy, but he's been a liability in coverage more times this season then an asset.....

    • Great teams build through the draft and have several young players that start that are on rookie contracts. It's important to hit on players in rounds 4 thru 7.  These should be future starters and solid depth.  When you hit on most of your picks you free up a lot of cap space for those one- or two-year players to fill spots you are thin at. No GM is going to perfect on all their picks.  You're going to whiff every once in a while.  That was Hurney problem.  He'd nail the first pick but after that it was reach after reach and we couldn't get any depth on this team. I'm excited about Morgan as our GM and hopefully he'll be around a long time.  It will be even better if Canales can continue to grow as a head coach, both in the development of young players and play calling. I remember last season after Young came back in the lineup and started to perform well.  We saw different plays I had only seen other teams use.   If Canales's play design and play calling continue to grow. Morgan and Canales will be linked together for a long time.  It would be nice to see a Coach and GM together for a decade or two. Go Panthers
    • They also came out for the encore and the singers were dressed in canes jerseys. Pretty fuging cool.
    • She kicked ass. Obviously not the same but it’s an absolute pleasure to see this band live. What a great evening.
