Nice!  And likely a hell of a steal for us considering how well he’s outplayed a UDFA contract and getting him extended early saves money in the long run, especially with the trajectory he’s on.

Would have preferred a 4 year deal, but I like the overall number if he becomes the player we expect him to be this year, it will have saved us a lot of money next summer on what that contact could have been.

My fear with a 3 year deal means he'll be going into the final year of the contract in the same offseason that T-Mac is eligible for an extension.

If they both play like we expect them to over the next 2 years, it will be hard to sign both of them in the same offseason without screwing us in other ways (see Bengals last offseason).  And I don't like signing T-Mac to a big deal and letting Coker play out his contract to hit FA, just as I don't like the idea of extending Coker and waiting on a T-Mac contract which would be a bigger contract every year you wait.

But a 4 year deal means extensions in different offseasons than T-Mac, and potentially even 2 years apart if you let him play it out and then probably becomes even easier to manage with the cap.

Looks like a reasonable deal. Good for him. Hoping to see him get the best opportunity to ball out. This puts the passing offense under even more of a microscope now. We better field a top 25 unit this year....
