Talking about killing a team

So about 2 years ago Winston Salem's minor league team wanted to build a new stadium near downtown. Great it seemed the place they where going to build it on was a blight on the city and it would be built with a shopping venue beside it. The city loaned the team 12 million dollars and work started on grading it and building it opening day was to be the beginning of the 2009 season. Fast forward to this fall work slowed down and rumors came out that one of the partners was having finaicial difficulties (divorce and the other owner is married to the other sister). Team kept saying it would be built in time until January then it was to open in July.

Well no work was being down at the stadium and finally in May they was saying the stadium wouldnt be finished til next season. Which brings us to today. Original cost was 22.6 million City already loaned 12 million and today it comes out that the team needs another 15.7 million and the cost to finish the stadium is now $40 million. Dont get me wrong so far what is done on the stadium looks nice but now the city will be on the hook for 27.7 million dollars for a project that original cost was 22.6 million. Let just say this wreeks of the Hornets deal and the only thing that can save this team is a new owner. The citizians are pretty pissed.

    • That Peter Principle is the real deal a whole lot of times.  And HC just seems to me to be a totally different job than the subordinate positions of coordinator (all three phases, I think John Harbaugh was a ST coach) . Anyhow it is real easy for HC people to be overwhelmed and unprepared. Such a different job. Those that hire ex HCs as mentors or coordinators are smart. But many just suck at it.  You have to have all the organization in place, front office too.  I tend to be supportive, at this stage, of the people we have and would be willing to stick with them like 5 years before judging their future. Because we need to establish continuity. At some point I would like to have OC that called the plays. It is too much for one guy.
    • Maybe. That's not a Bills team that has been playing very elite, however.  If it is close or we win, I am not exactly gonna chalk that up to us being a contender.
    • Eagles and Ravens come to mind
