  1. Carolina Panthers select DT Vernon Butler

I'm probably not the person to answer this (as I'm not exactly a core Huddler) but in my experience, yes. It's certainly not, a rare occurrence.
  2. Carolina Panthers select DT Vernon Butler

Refer to the snap counts already posted in this thread, Short had too many, Soliai replaces Dwan. Plenty of snaps left for Butler as everyone gets rotated more than last year. Less late game defensive drop-offs as a result.

Some of you need to watch this and realise that Getts is talking straight when he says what he says. He flat out answers some of the issues you have with this pick. You still won't like the answers he gives, and that's totally fine, but at least you'll have the answers about "why": http://prod.video.panthers.clubs.nfl.com//CAR/videos/dct/video_audio/2016/04-April/160429_Draft_Presser_Gettleman_Rivera-500k.mp4

OK, so here's last years snap count for DTs from Bill Voth at BBR: While Dwan's no longer here, Soliai is added to the mix, but I think we'll be looking to drop Short's snaps to keep him fresher and sharper for the ends of games, so there'll still be plenty of room there for Butler.

    1. they were as upset then as the huddle is now. A couple of people making noise. 2. I can't believe you don't. Let's not forget the injury he suffered and the late start to his pre-season before that. 3. We had 66 sacks the year before last, 44 last year. (could be slightly different numbers) That makes a hell of a difference to the secondary. 4. What do you think leads to "tak[ing] our foot of the gas" and the "DE disappear[ing]", if the OGs don't have to double team the interior guys they can help on the outside guys.

Thing about Butler is he is RAW, started playing football late and Mayock's quote after listing how good he's been was "...and he doesn't even know what he's doing yet". So he's already shown he can come in and help our rotation as it is, but imagine what he's going to be like after 1-2 years in the system.
  7. Carolina Panthers select DT Vernon Butler

    1) we did, but no one expected 1st AND 2nd rounds when we also needed OT, WR, etc. 2) disagree. 3) I'll go with Getts who said Butler was "the biggest impact on the board" and "we had 7 teams asking us to trade down, but the value was just too good, his impact is too big" 4) Our D-line rotation was lacking last year and meant we allowed teams to stick around in games. I saw the stats that Star saw <50% of snaps and Short ~65% plenty of room for a learning, growing DT who should become a future star.

The consideration is a 3rd down defensive line of: Johnson - Short - Butler - Ealy
  9. Carolina Panthers select DT Vernon Butler

A LOT of people dab. very very rarely about Carolina Panthers. He has said though that he was rooting for the Panthers in the SB because he's a fan of Cam.
  10. Carolina Panthers select DT Vernon Butler

When / where did this happen?
  11. Carolina Panthers select DT Vernon Butler

could use any of: KK when we drafted Short, Ealy when we had CJ and tagged Hardy, Shaq when we have Luke, TD, and Klein for depth, or even Mayo after we went Shaq in the 1st. Fact of the matter is Getts goes BPA (for our system/schemes) without worrying about who's already on our roster. And he's shown over the last 3 years it's the best way to go.
  12. Carolina Panthers select DT Vernon Butler

We had interior rush when the guys were fresh. Guess what this pick does about that?
  13. Carolina Panthers select DT Vernon Butler

    huh... that's an interesting opinion.
  14. I guess we'll see huh? Dallas took the risk and gave him every opportunity (more than he deserved even) to get it all back. Hardy blew it big time and they got burnt. Every GM in the league saw that, you think they're going to ignore that? You think they should? How many second chances should a guy get?
  15. This thread is horrible, your posting is bad, and you should feel bad. ESPN took a hit by giving him air time, Hardy took a bigger hit by continuing to show that he hasn't learned his lesson and he hasn't changed his tune. The man will not play football in the NFL again. So it's not you who's wrong, it's the rest of the world? Good luck feeling aggrieved and indignant, just please don't keep telling us what you think about it.
