    Beaston comes home

Nobody remembers Kevin Greene, Lamar Lathon, Carlton Bailey, Nai’ll Diggs, Lester Towns, Mike Barrow, Greg Lloyd, Hannibal Navies, or Greg Favors? Some of those guys deserve to be on the list... among others...
  2. I don’t really claim to be much of a hip hop head anymore, although I do still produce a track every now and then. OP wasn’t bad. It’s typical of today’s style, and with some of the tweaks already mentioned (pop filter, layering, etc.) it would definitely be on par. The fundamentals are definitely there. I will say, however, that there is a bit of disingenuous feel to the lyrical content. I’ve never, no matter who it is, been a fan of that. Commercial music in general, but especially rap, has been about the backing track for close to two decades now anyways. Every since Little Brother broke up I haven’t really kept up with much. I couldn’t name 3 songs by Drake or any of today’s premier faces of the genre. I couldn’t even get into Kendrick, really. I’m not a fan of his tone. The better artists have pretty much been ignored or forced to sell out to pull in other audiences. Tech N9ne has been one of the best rappers of all time, but gets largely ignored because of catering to juggalo-esque fans and making too many not-so-serious songs. At least he’s doing his thing independently, I guess. I’ve got a couple friends still in the game, and I’m still hoping they make it one day. At least enough to be comfortable or whatever. But it is hard to change who you are to sell yourself to people.
  3. The Panthers’ biggest problem on defense the past 15 or so years is that they run too much weak zone coverage to begin with. We’ve relied too heavily on the front seven, and good teams pick that apart with TE’s and slot guys. Yes we desperately need to run more man coverage. That said, I’m not sold we have the personnel. Honestly, I think the LBs and DE we got in the draft are going to be molded into rotating edge rushers/cover guys like Denver and a Seattle have featured in the past. You can give lots of different looks with this type of defense, and allow your corners to man up while your safeties roam zones. Rather than featuring a nickel or dime in some scenarios, I expect we are planning on having the extra guy up front manning up or showing blitz.
  4. Just finished book 2 of the Legends of the First Empire series by Michael J. Sullivan. I gotta say, this is probably going to make its way to film at some point. Excellent story, and I’d put him up there with GRRM, Rothfuss, and Lynch... the difference being that Sullivan actually gives a damn about his readers and churns the books out. The first two came out a year apart, and the next one is due out in July. I’m excited.
  5. Darius Leonard Lorenzo Carter Remember those names tonight. One could be in the black and blue soon. TD’s suspension, Luke’s noggin’, Shaq’s Learning curve, and an overall need for youth and depth at the position are contributing factors. I know everyone’s drooling over a Safety early, but if the few guys we’re eyeing there are off the board, or one of the two LB’s above slide into rd. 3, expect us to snag one of them.
  6. not sure if it has been mentioned in this thread yet, but anyone else know what former Panthers receiver and guaranteed first ballot HOF is very good friends with one Torrey Smith? (hint: they share the same last name) verrrrrryyyy interesting

  8. sigh... better than anything else you’ve done, imho, but I can’t encourage this nonsense... how you gonna write a song from a persecuted football player’s perspective when, in the past IIRC, you’ve argued against players speaking for themselves by kneeling during the anthem? that’s really where your problems start tbqh... you’re rapping about things of which “you ain’t ‘bout that life” maybe just record a version of Green Eggs and Ham or something since that’s more your flow and since you like sticking to vicarious subject matter... you could even edge-lord it up like you like to do and call it “Green Eggs and H.A.M.”
  9. Congrats, bud! Looking forward to claiming I (somewhat) knew that guy before he was famous!

    The Walking Dead season 8

I just finally remembered to read it yesterday. I'm not sure I'm trusting the Commonwealth at this point, and I'm not sure what to think about the Michonne twist. Overall, though, I think this could be a fresh new arc that could draw me back in.

This makes me so happy on so many levels. I didn't think we'd see this day for at least a few more years.

    Tinderbox Off Topic

Obviously I'm still reeling from last night, and now reading the thread this morning about Shula getting an extension too... But... If I were Cam, I'd want to be traded. It is clear that they aren't going to protect him, or give him any weapons in the passing game, or call a game the way it should be called (aka keeping the other team on their toes.) I have no idea why we extended Stewart last offseason other than outright loyalty. We haven't used him much this year and our running game is totally unimaginative and bland. Teams stack the box when he's in the game so rather than adapt we just pull him out. L O EFFING L. I like Stew and all that, but why have him here if we are going to force CMC into the backfield? Our route designs are unimaginative. I think I saw two decent route calls last night. One to Olsen on the TD and one to CMC on his long gain. Other than that, it is bland bland bland. We need to exploit other team's zones like ours get exploited... and on that note... Our defense still plays that soft ass goddamn weak cover 2 bullshit that teams exploit all day long, and our safeties and CB2 and Nickel are just straight up trash because of it. Luke can't do it all by himself and neither can Cam. I was a little bummed about Rivera's extension and now the news about Shula is just outright depressing. If new ownership doesn't come in and make some major changes to our culture and how we operate (not being overly loyal to players who have fading talent, sub-par coaching, etc. etc. etc.) then I don't know how much longer I can even keep watching. Sorry for the rant, but I felt this was a good place for the vent.
