  1. Babadook was pretty good but the first half was just stressful. That kid. ... hush was good too, but there were some pretty predictable elements towards the end. I hadn't seen that actress before. Looked like a young angelina jolie. didnt mind that at all. Someone told me about this movie called the shift or the last shift about some female cop having to stay at a police station that as getting ready to close. Might check that out. I'lll check out oculus and it follows too.
  2. It's more fans thinking they're fans of the team and not self serving players who put themselves above team
  3. exactly what i'm looking for.
  4. i've seen a little about the babaduk and think i heard some good things about it. not sure why i haven't seen it yet. don't know anything about hush. thanks.
  5. i've got a few days off and working third shift it's hard for me to sleep at night so i figure i would spend those sleepless nights catching up on some good movies. i don't like torture movies like saw. i don't like slasher movies. i'm more into haunting and possession type movies. more recent movies i've seen that i liked are the conjouring, the witch, insidious, sinister, the last exorcism, and (kind of embarrassed to admit) paranormal activity. anyways....what you got?
  6. The Witch

i came in doing a search for horror movies to watch and saw this thread. i saw the wich last weekend. a lady i work with was telling me about it and said she was going to watch it online and i thought i would as well. i saw a couple trailers for the movie and the movie i saw was NOT the movie that was in the trailers. i mean technically it was, but the way they tried hyping this movie....i can tell why there were probably more people disappointed with this movie than there were who enjoyed it. this wasn't a fast paced movie at all. there wasn't anything to jump out and say "boo!" like so many other horror movies. nothing to make you jump and i think that was some of the genius of this movie. the whole time i was watching this i just had this feeling that something bad was going to happen and while it eventually did, it didn't seem to finish to me. there was no closure to this movie. when things started going wrong, the dominos falling for lack of a better description, you didn't get to see where the dominos stopped. i was uncomofrtable and unsettled the whole time i was watching and the movie ended with me feeling the same way. it honestly just left me hanging in kind of a uncomfotable limbo. my dad's side of the family is from the area around plimouth plantation and that whole area and time period was one that was particularly interesting to me and the more you study it, the less like the images of the pilgrims, the mayflower, and thanksgiving you saw on tv and taught in school. it was a really hard time for these people, not just physically, being in a whole new area surrounded by scary forests, animals, and people (in their mind) while trapped in a setting that had the devil and witchcraft literally waiting to come get you and it caused a very paranoid mindset to take over in the way people lived and villages were governed. that movie captured every bit of it and used language that was truly authentic for that time period. in fact they said at the end (i think) that much of the dialogue was taken directly from transcripts of the earliest witch trials. this wasn't your average horror flick. this was one of the more intelligently written and filmed movies i have seen. the acting was great as well. i don't know that i have ever seen any of those actors in anything else, but i don't know that you could have asked for a better fitting ensemble than the one they had. just a fantastic movie. not sure i want to watch it again, though.
  7. Good lord....

lol at graham being the go to guy for wilson. they can't afford to lose him as a blocker, even if he sucks at that. their OL has turned to hot garbage and wilson is going to have to be quicker and luckier than ever before.
  8. yep. i gratefully obliged. but he was one of dozens i banned in the 24 hours after the superbowl. this place became a cesspool of racist trolls. it was really starting to piss me off more than i already was, but then i saw him make that comment (the second one to make it that i obliged...though i can't remember who that first one was) it was almost like a reward for having to clean up the poo i was.
  9. Apparently he wasn't a fan of being on a winning team and going to the superbowl, either.
  10. that's kind of what i was thinking. it's probably as close as you are going to get. that area probably has the climate most like what you would find of any place in the carolinas.
  11. What Are You Listening To Right Now....

Been on a Glen hansard jag lately.
  12. Best Hair Band songs

you may not think of ozzy as a hair band, but there's no denying the hair spray going on in the concert footage. i was a teenager during these years and as corny as they seem now, they were a lot of fun back then. like i said in another thread, i was big into iron maiden and judas priest, but there were so many bands that i liked to listen to during that time. Ratt, Twisted Sister, Quiet Riot, Cinderella, Def Leppard, Whitesnake, Tesla, Krokus....ahhh so many. there were a few bands that i really didn't like that much. i thought dokken tried hard and i had a cassette or two of theirs, but i always thought they were on the outside looking in, kind of like the neil diamond of metal. always having to fight for respect through interviews because they just weren't pulling it off in their music. george lynch wass a decent guitarist and don dokken wasn't a horrible singer, but meh... i never liked great white. i saw them twice with a two year span in between. the first was them opening up for whitesnake and the other was part of a 3 band bill with badlands (jake e lee's other band after ozzy) and tesla. they told the exact same joke in both shows about getting drunk and waking up with some woman that was so ugly he about had to chew his arm off. lame music. lame act. i really liked motley crue's first couple albums, too fast for love and shout at the devil, but after that they really started getting annoying and became posers. with every new album they had some new look and when asked about it they would say that's how they looked when they first got started and they were going back to the old days.
  13. What happened to Netflix?

my 8 year old watches the kid shows all the time. it's cheap entertainment for her. well worth the little monthly payment. i tried looking for a movie on it a couple nights ago and was really disappointed. i'll stick with amazon prime for that. combined it's just not a bad option for me.
  14. I guess they figure that if their fans get drunk enough they will forget they are watching a weak team Iin the middle of a giant sphincter.
