When the day breaks I got a bad feeling it's not gonna look good. In a crazy way, the lack of huge buildings and infrastructure might work to thier advantage. I'm looking for any kind of silver lining.

The Red Cross directed $200,000 to immediate assistance, and the Inter-American Development Bank, a Washington-based agency that focuses on Latin America and the Caribbean, said it also would provide $200,000 in immediate aid for food, water, medicine and temporary shelter.

Sheesh

The US has indestructible carrier groups roaming the world. Send one of them to Haiti.

Yeah, this is gonna be bad. Poor country. Bad construction. There have been reports that the Palace collapsed. This will be real bad...

We'll probably wake up to see one of the worst disasters we ever have, sadly. It was in such bad shape to begin with...

My dad called tonight wanting to know how far St. Maarten was from Haiti. I was just in St. Maarten the week after Christmas. I got an email from there saying all was well.

I also heard that the Dominican Republic was fine.

They are... heard it this morning on GMA... the USS Carl Vincent was in transit from Norfolk to San Diego and they re-routed her to Florida to pick up a helo squadron to take to Haiti...

Here's the shake map... lots of orange and red... :eek:

6.5 in California the other day. Makes you wonder if another is coming soon.

Could be... strong quakes often affect other faults around the planet.
