Weatherspoon may go to Arizona. Can we trade next years first to get to 26th or higher? If not to Arizona, New Orleans would be crazy not to pick him. A lot of things would have exactly right for us to have a shot at weatherspoon but I dunno if he's the right pick anyway. I think AJ Edds makes more since. A pure SLB to challenge Diggs for the starting spot is our biggest need at LB.

Oh just imagine the LB core with Weatherspoon, Davis, and Beason. Now that would be scary. Looks like a good mock to me, I would love to see those players in a Panthers' uniform but I have a feeling some of them will go earlier than what you have said. Hope that is not the case though.

great mock. i love the lane and weatherspoon picks. and I do think either Gilyard or Jacoby Ford will fall into the mid to late 3rd

I would be jizzing in my pants if this is what we're getting on draft day, simply because I can't see it happening. Gilyard in the 3rd is possible, just because I haven't been impressed with him so he could be a value pick in the 3rd. Briscoe in the 4th? I think the guy's just too good to slip that far.

Instead of start a new topic with each incarnation of my draft, here is the most recent... I call it, "It couldn't happen in a million years, but if it did I would jizz my pants all day every day"

Trades:

2011 first rounder and pick #112 (4th) to Kansas City for picks #36 (2nd), #102 (4th), and #142 (5th)...

Our original second rounder, #48, to NY Jets for picks #61 (2nd) and #124 (4th)...

Our original sixth rounder from Oakland, #175, plus the #142 (5th) from KC to New England for pick #124 (4th)

This would give us picks:

2 - #36

2 - #61

3 - #78

4 - #102

4 - #119

4 - #124

6 - #202

6 - #204

7 - #223

7 - #249

The Mock:

2 - 36 - Golden Tate, WR Notre Dame (alternatively, Demaryius Thomas, WR GT):

Tate slips past the Jets at #29 and the Bucs at #35... We jump at the chance to get Smitty Jr...

2 - 61 - Tyson Alualu, DT California (alternatively, Navorro Bowman, OLB Penn St.)

Looking to solidify and reinforce the defensive line, we select a guy who can play DT or DE...

3 - 78 - Mardy Gilyard, WR Cincinnati (alternatively, another WR or a LB)

Gilyard has fallen way down on most boards simply because of his size and the rise of other WRs once behind him... This pick will be a steal if he slides this far, and he already has chemistry with the guy we're eyeing with the next pick...

4 - 102 - Tony Pike, QB Cincinnati

Needing good depth and potential behind Moore, the Panthers take an accurate passer who slides further than he should on draft day... I've never been keen on the QB draft pick, but I think there is a good chance we pull this trigger...

4 - 119 - Dekoda Watson, OLB Florida State

LB depth is a big need right now, and I'll honestly be surprised if it isn't addressed by this point.. either by a free agent, or a draft pick prior to this slot...

4 - 124 - George Selvie, DE South Florida

Good frame, good character, good technique, great motor... Could immediately backup either starting end and be a solid rotational guy down the stretch...

6 - 202 - Leigh Tiffin, K Alabama

Kasay's eventual replacement

6 - 204 - Rico McCoy, LB Tennessee

Can add even more depth to our most shallow position on the roster

7 - 223 - Chris Marinelli, G/T Stanford

Another holdover from my initial mock, can provide OL depth

7 - 249 - Robert Johnson, S Utah

Yet another holdover... I dunno if he'll still be on the board, but if so, he is well worth the pick from a depth standpoint...

I really cannot see either of these guys making it into the 2nd. But I love Thomas he could be just the type of guy that we need. Would rather take him then Tate IMO

The overhyping of Thomas (he is nowhere the WR some people are calling him, in my opinion) is what may just cause Tate to slide...

Sure, the Rams, Lions, or Bucs could take either of them if they do slide, but they have much more pressing needs than WR...

It'd be a wetdream for it to happen, and I don't really think it will... I just included it for the slight chance that it does...

the measurements of Thomas will have teams going for him alone.
