The Charlotte Bobcats are in ongoing trade discussions with the Dallas Mavericks, and possibly the Oklahoma City Thunder, that could move Raymond Felton and Nazr Mohammed, two NBA sources confirmed to the Observer.

Some elements of a potential deal were first reported Sunday in the Boston Globe. The Observer has learned that any deal likely would include moving backup center Mohammed, who is owed about $13.3 million over the next two seasons.

If a deal is consummated, the Bobcats likely would end up with Dallas Mavericks center DeSagana Diop. The Bobcats pursued Diop during free agency last summer before he re-signed with Dallas. The deal Diop signed with the Mavericks is large – four more seasons at an average salary of nearly $6.7 million.

It’s unclear what else the Bobcats potentially could end up with if a deal is made. The Globe reported the Bobcats might get veteran point guard Earl Watson if the Thunder is involved. Watson could serve as a backup to rookie D.J. Augustin if Felton leaves for the Mavericks.

That trade makes no sense at all. Diop isn't much better than Nazr and definitely isn't worth what he is getting paid, nor is he worth giving up Felton for.

Earl Watson and Feakin Diop for Felton...that sucks monkey balls. A few weeks there was talk of trading Felton to the Warriors for Randolf or Wright. My how times have changed.

This is all speculation. How many times have we seen an article that has the Bobcats getting ripped off in a trade only for it not to pan out? Think about the J Rich-Diaw/Bell trade, there we no news of it prior to it happening. I would take this 1 with a grain of salt.

Felton is a combo guard with a generally low basketball IQ that is best suited coming off of the bench and also happens to be an RFA at year's end. He has less trade value than most Bobcat's fans think.

The Bobs were willing to sign Diop to his present day contract last year but he chose to go back to Dallas. They have no issues taking on his salary and they would get a good backup PG in the process while moving one of their horrendous salaries in Mohammad.

The deal that I am reading is

Felton, May, and Nazr to Dallas. Diop and Earl Watson to Charlotte. Stackhouse and a 2nd rounder to OKC.

I would rather take on what OKC is getting in Stackhouse and the 2nd rounder.

None of this is going to happen now that DJ is hurt.

Don't think for a min that Stern doesn't get involved on these deals. He looks at the NBA as a whole and realizes some juice needs to go to Charlotte and OKC.

If Felton does goes to Dallas, he better rock a Panthers plate on his ride.
