Johnson isn't peppers, but he might be Mike Rucker reborn.

Now don't get me wrong, a good portion of his sacks end up being in garbage time (IE the second half, after we've already seemingly lost). But he's shown that he is the only consistently we have in the front four. Everyone else is a project, or just doesn't get to the QB.
We should probably abandon comparisons with Peppers. As much as I love the guy, he just isn't on our team anymore. I don't think anyone here is saying he's better than Peppers. The sacks CJ's gotten are great, but we all know the kind of disruptive freak Peppers has been. But if he was on our team this year, he would've given up a while back. We made the much better move spending way less money for CJ to get 10+ sacks than to spend x8 more on Peppers to get just as many sacks for a losing club.

Can anyone find out how many minutes each individual has played? I am convinced that Johnson's stats are inflated due to the incredible amount of time our defense is on the field.
Nonsense, there is only a differential of around 5% for our offense and defence.
Johnson has racked up 870 snaps and rushed the passer 449 times.
Peppers has racked up 892 snaps and rushed the passer 527 times.

Carolina's defense, on average, spends 32 minutes per game on the field.
Chicago's defense, on average, spends 30 minutes per game on the field.
I couldn't find stats on how much time each individual player played each game, but I'm assuming it's not THAT different.

Yeah that is quite a big difference... 20 snaps is a lot for a defensive unit.
that's a difference of 1.3 snaps a game.
not a big difference.

Yeah that is quite a big difference... 20 snaps is a lot for a defensive unit. That is almost a full game.
Maybe half of a game, if that, and half of that might be running plays.

Peppers is a physical freak with (no matter what he or anyone else says) motivation problems.
Johnson is less a physical freak but without said motivation issues.
The sum of the parts is very similar.
Also Peppers no longer plays for Carolina.
Let..it..go
