I'd like to see him return to San Diego as our DC if Rivera moves on. He would've replaced Wade back in 07, but he took the SF job before Wade left.

And thank you, I know my Johnson can rush the passer.

manusky did the best he could under the circumstances, namely dingleberry. that defense is still very good against the run and would look much better if manusky had a pass-rusher like your johnson.

Then why not keep Fox? He did the best he could...under the circumstances...

Oh look, another candidate we could pay 8 dollars an hour to coach.

Also, fans need to relax about the "no defensive coaches" thing. Just because you didn't like Fox doesn't mean every defensive coach is going to be like him. DC's are often very successful head coaches.

Anyone know if he has any previous experience with 4-3 defenses? The 49ers run a 3-4 defense..

Not as a coach .... he was on Marty's staff in WAS and SD before taking the SF job.

Singletary was their D.C. before he was promoted to HC, so Manusky couldn't have been a D.C. before the last few games of 2008. I think we're starting to get a profile on the type of coach we're looking for, though. Think young defensive coordinators.

I fully expect a Sean McDermott interview soon.

Played for Tony Dungy and Monte Kiffin in Minnesota.

Was the Chargers LB coach for five years prior to joining the Niners.

The 49ers defense from 2007-today(by points per game, not total yards)

2007 - 20th ranked defense

2008 - 23rd ranked defense

2009 - 4th ranked defense

2010 - 16th ranked defense

That IS impressive!
