So I got called an atheist today

Just had an interesting conversation with an NC State student. Their campus ministry is called Campus Crusade. I explained I wouldn't be flaunting that, considering it was a huge genocide. This person went on to say "no, they were just trying to convert people to Christianity to save them! Nobody died." I asked how long this person had been a Christian, they replied "All my life. Been in church every Sunday and Wednesday my whole life."

I was flabbergasted (probably a bit of an understatement, but I just wanted to use the word).

the crusades were a little too complicated to be defined as only mass genocide by the catholics. thats almost as ignorant as saying nobody died.

True, but from all I have learned from it, it was an offensive attack by the Pope and, at the time, there was peace between the Muslims and Christians, its just that the Muslims had the land that the Christians wanted.

thats not very accurate

Care to elaborate (I started a section on Islamic history in one of my classes today, and we started on the Crusades right at the end, I'm just going off previous knowledge)?

True, but from all I have learned from it, it was an counter-offensive attack by the Pope and, at the time, there was peace between the Muslims and some Christians, its just that the Muslims had captured land with intent to spead further.

Fair enough. I'll take it with a grain of salt, and see what gets said over the next couple days in my class. Either way, this happened so damn long ago, it is hard to find "evidence", only versions of the story as told by the perspective sides. I've heard what you are saying, and I have heard from Muslims their version (which is the one I put up).

Bottom line, neither side wants to look barbaric, so there is going to be finger pointing going on by both sides.

a new muslim regime had taken over jerusalem and restricted access to christian pilgrims. wouldnt call that peace.

also, the turks were invading the byzantine empire, prompting a defensive response from europe.

    • To me this off-season it makes the most since to keep CAP or Foz if it comes down to those two. CAP may be average, but that's as a 1st and 2nd down back which CMC, & Whit are not at this point from a full time perspective.  CAP is the best option to maintain a physical runner in the event (likely-hood) Stewart has to miss a couple games as he tends to each season.  I think it's common sense at this point. If we look at Stewart for what he is ''right now'' aside from pass protection there is not '' a lot'' that really separates him from CAP in my opinion, a few years ago it was a bigger gap, but at this point in Stewart's career he's becoming just a power runner, CAP is the closest we have to that.
    • Dummy, come on man.    Rivera and DG tanked that game for a high pick. You guys know nothing about running a team.    The question now is, do we as huddles think you're a decent poster anymore. Answer is "no".
