no chance Smitty gets us a 2nd rounder. this isn't Madden, we'd be VERY lucky to get a 3rd rounder. realistically we'd get a 4th rounder.

with that said, the thought of Brady to Smith scares me. we'd basically be trading them a trip to the super bowl.

I still think we should keep him though, unless he starts openly demanding a trade. The return just isn't worth it.

I wondered how long it would take for this thread. I remember reading a similar one with us trading Peppers to the Pats. It probably has as good a chance as happening as well.

If Smitty absolutely HAD to be traded, I'd like to see him in a Chargers uniform.

He'd have the opportunity to shatter records with Rivers throwing him the ball.

Not so fast.

Pats have more than one 2nd round pick.

What makes you think they qould give us the #33 overall?

If it did happen, it would probably be their 28th pick in the 2nd round.

I suggest everyone reread the part that says "Lombardi suggests" before freaking out.

The Pats might get Torrey Smith or Titus Young so I wouldn't if I were them. Then again if they had wanted a receiver they could have kept Moss, traded for V-Jax last year or sign Ocho etc this year. I don't think Bill values the position much. He probably thinks streak route speedsters are easy to acquire.

I'd hate to lose Smith, but if we then take Green 1st and DT second it could be great for us.

The Vikings got Randy Moss, for peanuts (4th), anyone who thinks New England would waste that high of a pick on a I hate to say this...old receiver? Umm, no.

They just plug guys in, in their spread system, got guys like Woodhead, and Welker killing underneath. Hell they even resurrected Deion Branch's career. This won't happen.

Conventional wisdom says keep Smith, this team has few holes and is just two seasons removed from the playoffs. All we lost were aging vets, and an overpaid avg QB. Carolina has the pieces/coaching staff to make the playoffs, consistent QB play and a healthy O-Line to me are the biggest areas where we need to improve.

With the addition of a vertical passing game aimed at getting all the WR's involved, as well as utilizing the TE I look for our offense to take a nice step forward in 2011. I don't think we lose anyone in free agency.

Said it before. You're not getting a second round pick for Smith.

The rest of the league doesn't see him through homer eyes like we do.
