Jesus christ. And my house is full of these things along with my pregnant wife and soon-to-be newborn baby.

Ugh. Thanks for the post.

Get that baby growed up quick, you have to have these LB in your house in less than a year. Then you need hazmat type clean up in case one breaks.

But don't worry, mercury never did hurt nobody. Ah environmentalists and their selective enviromentality.

One major reason I'm phasing into LEDs in my house.

I see CFLs as a stopgap until LEDs are cheaper.

Did you hear? The light bulb has been invented already.

I have heard.

But in South Carolina there are still folks who refer to it as "the fireless fire that still burns when you try to pick it up".

also the lumens/watt of brighter bulbs still have some catching up to do.

and omnidirectional light is an issue too. They make great spot lights and flood lights, but hopefully, this bulb is going a long way to fix that:

Where does the constitution give the government authority to tell me what kind of light bulb i can use?

Don't sweat it, bad-@ss SC made a law nullifying it and the companies making them are moving there to start manufacturing again. As always, looks like SC is gonna have to lead the charge.
