If we draft him, I would like to see us go after Kerry Collins as both a serviceable vet and a mentor for Cam. Collins has had a very good career despite the debacle he had while he was here. I think there are several aspects on and off the field that Collins could use to mentor newton.

Perhaps that is what they were going for in tennessee with young but suspect there were other things going on. Just a thought

Dude do you know what you're even talking about? Collins fuging hated it here, never wanted to play here and we should have never taken him for that reason. NO he should not come back here.

If we draft Newton we should play him at TE. His ceiling would be higher at that position.

Clarification:

One will never be a Panther, again.
The other you don't want to become one but actually has a decent chance of becoming one in reality. :D

I'm hoping that you're right, but what makes you so certain?

Cam Newton is a great athelete and Cam Newton has a big arm but does that make him a franchise QB? I wish it was that easy to use that criteria by itself to make the decsion to draft him but its not. A franchise qb has to be the ultimate student of the position and have a burning to desire to win.

He has to be a leader and have mental toughness. He has to be mature enough not to let big money and the temptations that go with it change his priorities of being a student of the position.

I am not saying to draft him or not but rather evaluate him on something other than his physcial attributes.

We want a guy with all those attributes.Think about guys that did not have the intandibles and failed their teams and fans.A few names come to mind:

Kerry Collins (at Carolina),J Russell,Mike Vick(Atlanta version)Vince Young.Matt Leinart,Ryan Leaf just to name a few.

I wouldn't really want Kerry Collins mentoring anybody.
