What a bonehead, classless move to cut John Kasay. And all because the kickoff is moving up five yards... really? This is how an organization treats a respected player who for 16 years has been the hallmark of everything good that his team supposedly represents? Were there no other options than to sign a kicker who, in stats and opinions, is inferior to the one you are cutting? Did Panther management explore ANY other options before making this colossal mistake? Keeping Lloyd for one. Is it not worth one third or fourth string spot on the roster to keep your teams most beloved player, especially when he is still at the top of his game? There's also the option of searching for a punter who can perform kickoffs, as I think most fans would agree that Baker is far more dispensable than John Kasay.

This is worse than what they did to Jake Delhomme. Even then when Jake was playing poorly, although with the receiving corps the team had, much of his performance was excusable, it seemed obvious to many that getting rid of the QB that led us to the Superbowl in favor of Matt Moore was ludicrous. And in the end no one benefited from that blunder. Now there's rumor that they might want him back, when he shouldn't have been gone in the first place. Boneheads.

At the very least the top brass have lost my respect and at best the team maintains status quo on the field at the loss of their most respected player. All because of 5 yards, sad.

So the Panthers need to waste another roster spot for a "kickoff specialist" this year, because Kasey doesn't know when to hang it up?

I believe that when the time comes, John Kasay will know that he's ready to hang it up. He's still one of the best kickers in the league. He went what 25 of 29 last season and he hit a 54 or 55 yarder? Those aren't the statistics of someone who's ready to hang it up. Also, I simply wouldn't take Mare over Kasay period.

It's not a waste of a roster spot if it works.

what was the best Kasay moment in your opinion?

For some reason, I'm remembering a game winner at Indy in 2003 in OT (not sure how far that was) as a good one.

I'm sure there are plenty of others.
