Former first rounder d-linemen who were busts elsewhere have been nice yields for us (see: Brayton, Tyler and Lewis, Damione). It's worth a look.

EDIT: P55 beat to me to it

I'd rather wait til after the cuts. If nothing else surfaces then sure why not. Former first round pick maybe he still has some potential.

Worth a shot, if we go into the season with what we have it won't be pretty.

He was highly rated coming out of the draft. If we can pick him up on waivers for the minimum he would definitely be worth bringing in. The knock on him was that at 300 lbs coming out of college he was a little light for a 4-3 nose tackle. If he is 315 and much of that is muscle, he might be a great pickup especially at the 3 technique. He was noted to have good speed and gap penetration ability coming out of college. Brayton was an Oakland bust who was a former first rounder who turned out pretty well. The same with Damione Lewis. Unless we don't have the spot to see how he develops, it seems we could give it a shot.

the other knock on him was he was lazy as f*ck.

Is it protocol to make threads about someone that gets cut regularly?

This guy was a bust, he's mediocre as hell. Corey Irving is better. NO fuging way we go after the guy..

I don't know, I think this is a name that merits consideration based on talent and position. He was miscast in Sea and I'd be willing to take a look at him as a 3 tech here. He's got to be better than Nic Hayden, so either way we're getting an upgrade.

As porous as we were against the run in Miami we have to find a nose tackle who can play. Honestly I don't know who that will be but if we don't, we are in a world of hurt. I could have run for 5 yards a carry with some of the holes that were in our D line. He couldn't be worse than Irvin and Fua were in Miami.

Balmer started 11 games for Seattle last year and had 43 tackles last year. That hardly seems like a bust to me. As for being lazy, that is the same rap everyone gave Corvey Irvin in the past.

He'd be an upgrade regardless. If he's cheap, I see no reason Carolina doesn't give him a shot.

What kind of a fuging name is Kentwan? I don't want him for that reason.

Anybody ever wonder if they've asked Mike Craft to play NT? I swear to god that guy just keeps getting bigger and bigger with every interview I see.

That is the biggest reason for the unreasonable amount of interest on this board in Balmer.
