Too early? (plus some stats)

To buy a Newton jersey? Birthday is coming up next weekend and I feel like replacing my more than worn black Delhomme jersey. Torn between white and black. Is it worth getting the premier jersey or stick with the replica?

On a side note Newton's most impressive statistic last Sunday was against the blitz:

Blitzed 21 times (45.6% of plays) from 46 drop backs
12/17 (70.6%),
231 yards (13.6 y/a),
1 TD, 0 Ints
132.6 QB rating
4 Sacks

If he can continue to identify blitzes and get the ball out quickly to punish them, then teams are going to start to re-think how they approach him.

You may be too late. Jersey sales are up, have you not heard? They may be sold out by the time you get on the bandwagon.

Haha, I live in the UK so we rarely get many jerseys to pick from if any at all. One thing that Newton has achieved is giving the Panthers some commercial interest. Currently we have the choice of Smith, Peppers, Kenny Moore, Clausen, Matt Moore, Chris Harris and Newton.

Not on any bandwagon and never will be. Even if Newton bombs from here on I still will be happy to wear his jersey.

Is it to early for me to buy a Christmas sweater? I know it's a few months away but I just love being to go in my closet in the morning and here those cute bells jingle when I wiggle the shirt.

Positive Stats:
3.61% more likely to talk to a senoir citizen when grocery shopping.
1.4% more likely to get away with hitting "Over 65" on Thursdays at HT for the senior discount

Negative Stats:
184% MORE Likely to have a bell fall off before December 25th.

WTF should I do??

How come you can ask for fashion advice but I get ridiculed for it? SMH at the hypocrisy.

I asked if getting the premier jersey is worth it over the replica. Having only ever had replica jerseys I have no idea.

Considering I am from the UK I have also never had the option of anything other than black Delhomme jersers, so thought it might be an idea to ask people who likely to have several types.

You tried really hard with your response to be funny and belittling, it failed.

Knowing that there are people like you who are only interested in chucking in your 'funny' comments, I also listed some statistics that most would not have been aware of from Newton. Please let me know if you didn't find it interesting how well against he blitz he did.

I say you make your own Christmas sweatshirt. You'll have a multitude of designs to choose from. Bells, poinsettias, wreaths and for the kids Christmas mice, rabbits and of course Santa Claus.

<sigh>

All i want to know is if premier jerseys are worth the extra money and what the other colours come out like. If anyone can be bothered with answering this it would be much appreciated.

I heard the colors on the replicas are fucked up.

Go authentic.

My advice: Don't wear a costume of another grown man.

Appreciated and noted.

Sadly over here the custom jerseys, regardless of quality, are even more expensive.

There is a mid range jersey (premier) that sits between authentic and replica, which seems logical to avoid the shoddy quality of the replica. Authentics are pretty damn expensive...

Actually by your thread title and 1st sentence you wanted advice on if you should buy a jersey and is it too soon.

Since you got your knickers in a bunch, here http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071218173519AAIcsNU. Google if your friend.

You still shouldn't wear costumes of other grown men.

Given that you are in the UK where football is not that popular, folks there likely wouldn't know the difference between the two anyway so save the money and go replica. I suspect that you will get away with that easier than if you had a replica soccer jersey versus a real one (don't even know if they make more than 1 version).

For what it is worth I have bought a few knockoff authentics on Ebay for less than 50 bucks which look good. You have to make sure the panther blue is correct and that the Panther logos on the sleeves are printed not sewn. Then they look very similar to the real jerseys and are cheaper than a replica.

Cheers, however that is a 4 year old Q&A.

By my own admission I feel it is too early to get a Newton jersey, as I think it's way too soon to think he is anything other than a rookie having played his first game. However, to reiterate, I live in the UK and have a very select choice to choose from. Who would you choose from this list (considering customised are an additional 50% in price):

Newton
Clausen
M.Moore
K.Moore
Harris
Peppers
Smith
Williams
Stewart

Personally I am adverse to picking up Pep's, I tend to want to get a jersey of someone who will stick around a few more years - which is also why I would avoid Smith. Clausen, Harris, and both Moore's tell their own tales.

This leaves me with Williams, Newton and Stewart. Newton appears to be our QB for the next 2-3 years pending injuries simply because the coaching staff are so invested in him.

Genuine question, you were the one who turned it into a facade.

Lol, too logical and forward thinking! Considering my family want to pick me one up for my birthday which is in a week, it might be a tough ask to get it over here in time. Not that it's important to me that it's here on my birthday, but it's important to them.

Would you pay an additional 50% on the cost of a jersey just to get your name on the back of a team shirt over getting someone on the team?

Sound logic. We only produce one type really, but we have multiple 'shirt' manufacturers, so they aren't in complete control of the price schemes.

Personally it wasn't what it would look like, not bothered if people thought it looked cheaper. More concerned with the lettering staying on and it not being stretched and misshapen if put in too hot a wash.

I would buy a Newton, Smith, Stewart or Williams. In fact I have all the others but a Newton. I wouldn't worry about buying a number 1 versus number 2 jersey as both will be fine. But both Williams and Smith will be fine after they are no longer playing as legacy jerseys, Stewart will be resigned and will be here for a number of years. Newton will be our franchise quarterback for the next decade so he will be fine as well.

OMG Thousands of people do it?

Clearly I'm missing out.

If I go through life and avoid most things the masses are doing, I'll be just fine.

Dressing up as my favorite football player and living through him for 3 hours on a Sunday just isn't my cup of tea.

If I could only do things that thousands of people are doing once a week :daydreaming:

Hand wash and hang to dry, don't wash them in the machine or use a dryer and they will both last for a long time. Otherwise the sewn on will last longer. But I take care of mine and they all look fine after years of wearing.
