because there is no benefit in being up by 5...doesn't matter either way so why not go for 2

IF you don't get the two then we're up only four and if Jax gets a TD then a FG only ties the game instead of giving you the W

This, and perhaps they thought that up by 4 or up by 5 is not that much of a difference, so up by 6 would be better.

I still can't understand the benefit of being up 6 instead of 5

Being up 6, if the opposition scores you still have a chance to block the extra point and keep the game tied. If you only go up 5, the importance of that extra point is lost since they would already have the lead if they scored a TD.
