Steve Reed Steve Reed @SteveReed_AP

Panthers WR Legedu Naanee breaks a bone in his foot. Won't play Sunday vs. New Orleans.
5:51 PM - 26 Dec 11

Will Ajirotutu be the number 3 receiver this Sunday, with Pilares and Edwards still primarily returning kicks?

i think edwards gets his shot. if he doesn't show anything his ass is gone. rivera has nothing invested in him.

pilares is a rook and has shown return potential, which is huge. tutu is expendable, no reason to waste snaps on him.

Yep got broken foot might go on IR lol. This off season will be fun I think. Hope we can find a wide out to help Smitty stretch the field. The fun part will be seeing which FA's
want to join the Camwagon!!!!
Go Panthers

who cares, lafell is better. and if they get another wr, he will be the first to go along with the other no names. he has got a little better, but not by that much.

Yeah, Seyi won't be on the team next year. Let's see what Pilares or Edwards can do. (Of course Edwards is probably gone as well.)

So I won't get to see him miss a TD pass again until next season? Nooo!

rivera said in his presser that armanti, kealoha, darvin, and seyi will all get their chances. he said it would just depend on the packages we run. didn't seem to favor anyone in particular. i believe pilares is the official #4 wideout on the depth chart though.

Well, Armanti is listed 2nd behind Smitty, and Pilares is 3rd behind LaFell.

So, I would read that as Armanti being forth. Unless they consider them vastly different WR positions.

All the guys will get some opportunities .

I remember who was on the field following the injury: Pilares. I expect more of the same.

With the way Rivera seems to think, the question seems to be, schematically, which WR provides the most of what they are looking to do (whatever it is they're looking to do). Not sure if the game plan will change fit what Pilares, Edwards, or Tutu do best if they do anything "best", instead of trying to see if either of them can do what the offense has been doing.

Naanee was recently catching a lot of shorter passes underneath, the one running in motion, probably setting up in the slot (I wasn't looking). Not sure that's either Pilares' or Tutu's game as they seem to be better at stretching the defense (based on their pasts), but maybe Edwards is better suited for underneath passes, so he'll get the lion's share of snaps as #3.

Mostly youth over veterans when we go down the depth chart from here IMO....I'd go with Armanti then Pilares, Tutu and finally Adams. Pilares is most certainly going to be on the 2012 squad, Armanti is under the gun, Tutu was brought in for depth and has occupied a roster spot off the street, so who knows where that puts him. Adams was a recent promotion, no hurry there unless he's shown a reason to play over the others.
