i don't think this is how very many women think about abortions. this is how most men think about abortions.

well, i was referring more to the "teach abstinence" vs. "don't regulate morality/women's bodies/etc" arguments and their respective supporters.

the people who make either argument tend to have nothing in common with whom they are arguing on behalf of.

...kinda like cantrell arguing on behalf of black people

which is why men shouldn't really be legislating women's bodies.

i'm not arguing on behalf of women... i'm saying as a man, I don't understand so I'm gonna err on their side.

to me, the argument is "it should be up to a woman because it should be up to a woman"
it isn't really an argument, but an assertion.

Yes, women should be free to do what she wishes with her own body. That's why they can get inked, pierced, silicone implants, manicured, tanned, etc.
What if you abort a female fetus? Does that one have a say so in what happens to her body? Or does it only apply to adults?

Politicians have been making laws regulating how we live our lives since the earliest politicians. But with abortion... oh no, we can't have a politician telling us how to live our lives. Huh?

Not that I am for the regulation of lives - it should pretty clear by my postings here that I believe in the opposite. Abortion is a medical procedure, no? Leave it between the woman (and in a perfect world, the father would have some say so), the doctor, and the insurance company. All but the most party line toeing Republican jock sniffers can live with that.

Abortion doesn't need any political prodding. It's distraction politics and the politics of division. The reason it comes up at the same point each election cycle is to dig the trenches deeper.

agree with all of this completely.

the reality (as i'm sure you know) is that there is no right answer, only the answer that you're/I'm comfortable with. my comfort level has very little to do with anything outside of my personal sphere of influence. As such I'll rely on my own abilities and relationship if/when put into that situation and feel no need to legislate others decisions. What i do know is that this is an extremely difficult decision for most that seems to be taken exceedingly lightly by those that disagree with it. I can't and won't put myself into others shoes and pretend to know what's better for them or their child. because, make no mistake, everyone who goes through this knows exactly what they're giving up. that's something that's ALWAYS taken for granted in these discussions.

didn't want to get into this discussion... leaving now.

Speaking of abortions. How illegal would it be if I were to slip the morning after pill into my son's gf's breakfast?

"Good morning sweetie, I made you some oatmeal for breakfast"

Is it jail time illegal?

According to recent law changes, you could be charged with murder due to your intent.

Are roofies legal?

to drive a car you have to get a license, but any idiot has the right to make babies. Makeing babies should be illegal unless you take a parenting class and have some kind of income. I used to be prolife, but I've met some people I wished were aborted, instead of heveing to deal with them.:o

Ah well, my personal experience in that has been a bit different, considering the only two girls I've known to get abortions didn't even tell the guy who got 'em pregnant in one case, and in the other she told the dude only after she had decided she didn't want to keep it. I know guys do pressure girls into it sometimes but I was always under the impression most were done by women for their own reasons these days, and that guys just didn't hear about those all that much for what I think are obvious reasons.

I got to go with the Pope aka Mr. Infallible on this one. All forms of contraception are messing with God's plan. Sex is for making babies only, if you do it for other reasons you're a *****

I really hope you're being sarcastic.

That may be the most ridiculous thing I've ever read on this board. And that's saying a LOT.
