We gave up two 3rd round picks last year on def. tackles. Rivera has said def. tackle is not our biggest need. There's a couple of mock drafts that has Claiborne dropping to us at no. 9. CB is a big need for us and Claiborne is the best CB in the draft. With Schwarts gone, Hangman a FA, and Otah a question mark, we should look at the O-line with a second pick.

Don't think corner is the biggest need but I would agree that if Claiborne falls to us he will be the BPA for sure. But O line in the second ignores that we have all our starters back from last year on the O line plus three guys who were on IR-Williams, Otah, and Bernadeau. Now lets talk linebacker where except for Anderson, all we have are questions marks.

Why would we draft Cam Newton, we have Jimmy Clausen for peak's sake! Seriously I think that was an actual argument last year.

Yeah I would be surprised. He had a pectoral tear not an Achilles heel injury, he was solid for years in the league and he was great mentoring the rookies.
His salary is 1.5 million with a cap hit of 2.3 million. If we cut him we have 1.66 in dead cap space. So keeping him will cost us 700,000 in cap space over cutting him. Who could we bring in cheaper???

I think it was a torn triceps...While he was brought in for a short term answer, I doubt they signed him as a stop gap measure. Still haven't seen him take snap one on our defense, so it's yet another case where I'll defer to the staff to decide how he'll fit in moving forward. I really expect to see him start if healthy, and he was extremely reliable on that front until he got snake-bit after putting on a Panthers uniform.

I see linebacker as our #1 need and Kuechly can play more than 1 position and will be a top 15 pick and i don't think would be a reach at 9 i would be happier with him than any of the linemen that will be available

3 first round picks wrapped up in a 4-3 defense.
